Text - Galatians 1.6-9; John 5.39

Background

Part 1 - Paul warned the believers in Galatia that there was no other gospel except that which they have already received.

Any other gospel is not from God.

Part 2 - Although there is no other gospel, the Bible teaches us that the it (the Gospel) has delivered to men at different times and in different “forms”.

One of them was the “promises” of God to the fathers.

Main Point

The gospel was delivered to Israel in yet another ‘form”, that of the types and shadows contained in the Scripture.

Conclusion

A true believer of the Gospel should make the Law and the Prophets part of his/her spiritual diet.

A true believer of the Gospel should see Christ in every book of the Law

In Exodus - Christ is in - the Passover, the tabernacle, ark of the covenant, pillar of cloud and fire, the mercy seat, the manna

In Leviticus- Christ is in the sacrifices and offerings, the 7 feasts of the Lord, the year of jubilee and release, laws concerning cleansing, the High Priestly office, the atonement, law of redemption

In Numbers - Christ is in - the Aaronic priesthood, redemption of firstborn, the law of purification, the bronze serpent, cities of refuge,

Deuteronomy - Christ is in the law concerning witnesses, laws concerning marriage, divorce, tithes, the blessings and curses, Joshua

Joshua - Christ was in Joshua,

A true believer of the Gospel should see Christ in the books of the Prophets

in Judges, books of Samuel - Christ was in David, Solomon,

In the books of Kings and Chronicles

in Isaiah - Christ was the son born of a virgin; the; the wonderful, counselor, mighty God, etc.; the Servant of God; the Anointed One to preach the gospel; the Governor of peace and righteousness; the King who will reign in righteousness, peace and justice;
