And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

This passage God is wrapping everything up.

In this scenario he goes forward receives Christ and from that moment his life changes his destination charges.

He walks out of the church and on the way home he gets in a car wreck and dies.

you will walk out of this building this morning either under the blood, having your sins forgiven, or over the blood, trampling the blood of Jesus beneath your feet. Now, when you do that—if you say, “I do not want God. I do not want Christ. I do not want to be saved—no” to the Holy Spirit—you do despite unto the Spirit of grace.

You will not come to the judgment and then plead for mercy. It will do you no good. The Bible says, “It is appointed unto men once to die, [and] after this the judgment” ().

It says nothing of mercy there. You’re going to be judged according to your works.
