Is Scripture written to us or for us?
Is Scripture written to us or for us?
o God used different men to write to a different audience, who lived in a different time from our own.
o Ex: When God spoke to Abraham…
When God spoke to Ezra…
When God spoke to the Ephesians …
o Therefore, we are not the original recipients of Scripture. They were!
o However, Scripture was intended by God to reach all generations. We can know, though Scriptures was not written to us, God intended it for us. !
So, how do we find the meaning from Scripture that was not wrote to us but for us?

o We have to recognize the differences between us and them.
§ Is there a difference in language?
§ Is there a difference in culture?
§ Is there a difference in time?
§ Is there a difference in covenant?
Is there a difference in government? Etc…
Next, we determine what we have in common.

o Are we dealing with a similar situation?
•Are we dealing with a similar cultural mindset?

•Are there any characteristics pertaining to the situation which we can relate. Etc…

This should bring us to a point where we can answer the question for step number two.
