The Mission of Habc
And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
Now isn’t that amazing Noah lived 500 years without anything significant happening in his life
He was a good guy raised a family was righteous but up to that point not to much happened in his life that we know about
And after 500 years something changed
He got a new revelation from the Lord He got a mission from the Lord
And then after he got that mission what he did in the next 100 years changed the history of the world and directly affected every living thing on the face of the earth.
He is your Grandpa
From that point on he was a man with a mission and because he had a mission not only did his life change and his families life change but the history of the world changed
IF you are the one that has found grace in the eyes of God he will give you a mission.
The bible is a book of The Lords mission and those men that led in doing the Lord's mission and those that helped them or opposed them.
Adam had a mission
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Abraham his mission was to go look for a city whose builder and maker was God To be the father of a nation.
The Lord's mission was a lamb slain before the foundation of the world.
John the Baptist said behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the World.
Paul’s mission was Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God

The Mission of Huisache Avenue Baptist Church is to glorify the Lord.
We do that by seeking the lost, teaching the found, and inspiring Christians to serve the Lord.
Having a Mission is Important
I will be here for almost 12 years
And for the biggest part of those 12 years I was not really Clear on what I was doing or why we were here
If you asked me I would have taken a lot of time to give you a complicated answer.
And because of the uncertainty I could not effectively lead the church forward in a specific direction.
And because of that not only was I confused everyone else was as well.
They came out of habit but no sense of purpose or direction.
Why are you here because we are supposed to be.
Why I do not know.
How do you fit in ?

Why does Habc exist what is the church trying to do trying to accomplish
I talked to a preacher church had grown a lot said what are you doing he said I started teaching what we are supposed to do instead of all the time on what everyone else was doing wrong, who we are and why we exist.
What is your mission ?
misson what makes you unique what has god called you to do how are you different than the food bank?
So I got ahold of the bible and got ahold of God and this is were the mission came from
That made a difference First thing I noticed
Malachi
the meetings started to make sense
Everything started to fit together
We were able to stop doing a lot of things that were not part of what we should be doing.
Man is so designed that he needs a cause
I read a leadership book called extreme ownership by a navy seal and what he said was that were a lot of people fail is the leaders know the mission but they have not clearly communicated it to others it never gets accomplished because if the rifleman on the front lines the lowest level enlisted guy does not know what he is doing the mission fails it is important that everyone knows the mission
The nursery supports the mission by providing a loving environment for the children, the caregivers and the parents.
it gives significance to the otherwise meaningless details of our lives…Too many times the routines of life begin to feel like shoveling dirt.
But take those same routines, those same responsibilities, and view them through the lens of the mission and everything looks different.
it brings order to chaos.
What have I noticed in the last five years?
We have gotten something done we have grown people have grown and been helped and the church is unrecognizable today versus five years ago the maintenance minded people left and God added mission minded people.
But on a more micro level here is what encouraged me the most.

Roland has dedicated hundreds of hours of service to the Lord He has worked with adults and taught children teaching and inspiring others to serve the Lord Fulfilling the mission of his Church.

To glorify the Lord.
What is your church about.
And over the last few years since I have first taught the mission
And hearing my 6 year old be able to explain church and why we exist and what we are supposed to do just did something for me.
Listen the kids can get this
But you should not just pick a cause pick a mission you need to be doing God's mission and be a part of something that is real and has eternal value
But the Lord put us here for a purpose just like he put noah here for a purpose and maybe it is not the same purpose but he wants you to be a part of something that changes history and changes eternity and makes an eternal difference
Or you will end up investing your life into fighting for gay rights
Or for global warming
Or for the spotted owl
Or for the environment
Or to end world hunger
It is so easy to get people involved in things that do not matter because from their spiritual leaders they lack mission and do not clearly understand what god wants them to do
And because so many people do not know what that is they make up their own mission and they get to the end of their lives and they find they wasted it because they did not know what the Lord's mission for them was
When a church does not have a mission the people are not unified around what the Lord wants them to do
And they begin to fight and quarrel and become dissatisfied
And they begin to attack one another and slander one another and they start trying to do the Lord's job instead of doing the mission God called them to do
Preaching on our church’s mission is not a gimmick.
It is what god called us to do he gave the mission
Our mission comes directly from the Word of God.
The Bible teaches that the church’s mission is a way to unify a body of believers with a single purpose.
With a clear mission in place, people are able to effectively serve the Lord through the local church which allows us to bring glory to God.
Teaching about our mission helps people to understand our goals as a church and allows them to serve the Lord more efficiently in their ministries: i.e. prayer, tithing, teaching, serving, helping, and singing.
With a better understanding of why our church exists, we can all come together in a way that pleases the Lord.
Let's look at the mission and as we go through this I want you to understand why we are here
