White Christmas_pt4: Light of the World
Christ, Light of the World
There is light and there is darkness.
We all begin in darkness (Fall of the world)
But there is Light!
He tells us: Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.
Thank God that Jesus, the Light… leads me out of darkness!
Light leads me out of darkness
Yes, we can understand this is in a general sense… most of us in this room have been Christians for some time.
So, we get it…
But, digging deeper, we find more insight into this “Light of the World”
Let’s go back to the beginning of this chapter...
[SUMMARIZE STORY] - Adulterer brought before Jesus.
Read John 8:1-12
You see, Light is never about “getting sin out of your life.”
It’s simply about coming to Him.
And His light will drive away darkness (sin and death)
Light sends away my accusers
[PAYOFF] - No one can accuse me.
Only He.
And He condemn me not.
Oh what a Light!
A purifying Light!
He is the standard, not any other accuser.
And understanding this piece, releases us (true freedom) from ourselves...
And also releases us to be what He’s recreated us to be...
Light is shared through me
[Christmas Tie-in]
This Christmas, we are reminded of the reason for the season.
It’s Jesus.
But, not as simply the leader or founder of our faith, but as a gift.
The gift of LIGHT!
When it was time (in the custom) to dedicate their child Jesus, Joseph and Mary took Him to the temple
There they met Simeon, who was kept alive (promised) until he could see the God’s salvation for the word.
Well, guess what Simeon saw this day...
Simeon saw the light!
In just a moment we will move into our candlelight worship...
