GO BEYOND PART 1
But David said, "No, my brothers! Don't be selfish with what the LORD has given us. He has kept us safe and helped us defeat the band of raiders that attacked us.
INTRODUCTION
Good morning Southpointe!!! March is here!
We are starting this new series, title: Go Beyond!!
talk about the story of David,
So this morning, I want start with a couple of sayings that I really like:
Faith is daring the soul to go beyond what the eyes can see.
Dream Big, and I will go beyond that. God
Many times in life we have had a dream, a dream to go and do great things. It could be from relationship to career or ministry.
Many people stay in starting gate, they never go beyond that dream.
But I want you to know that you can this morning.
You should be cultivating your dream with prayer, perfected praise, Bible study and fellowship with other believers.
There’s one thing that I really believe is so critical to the success of any dream.
And It may seem unusual and even backwards but I assure you that no dream that is God’s dream will come to pass with this key element.
That key element is multiplication, or going beyond!
You see, it is not enough to cultivate your dream, because if your dreaming becomes self-focused and introspective, it will die.
It is not enough to work hard for a personal goal although there is much good in that.
God requires of every dreamer that we multiply, go beyond our dreams by giving away our resources and serving others.
Sound backwards! But that is the secret of going beyond.
Most people think that the way to win a battle or accomplish a goal is by squeezing out every last resource of time and money and kick in an offensive.
And that is true in part. But if it start becoming about our self, then we are going directly against one of God’s fundamental principles, which is this:
If you want something, give it away.
In other words, if you want your dream to come true, be generous with the very resources that will help it come true.
If you want your dream to become reality, help other people reach their dream first.
Give your time and money. Serve others with excitement. Evangelize and bring others to Christ.
When God sees that generosity of your heart, God won’t be able to resist pouring new blessings and resources upon you.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. "
Listen to what King Solomon wrote:
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
For those that want to Go beyond, generosity is not an option; it is a way of life. It is the only path to fulfilling your dream and multiplying the dreams of others.
You see, without going beyond, operating in the spirit of generosity, you are limit what God is able to do through you and in you.
The Bible commands us to go beyond with God and with others and to serve them.
Jesus said this:
But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,
And Jesus didn’t just talk the talk, Jesus walk the walk>
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Jesus did that very thing, He came to serve.
We must live to serve also. We must live this life and go beyond that a life of being generous people.
God is so generous! God doesn’t just do generous things: generous defines Him.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
free-meaning generous.
One of the most well know verses in the Bible:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God so loved the world that He gave. God demonstrated that when you give, you gain much more in return.
God gave His Son and gained the hearts of all who would believe in Him.
We gain every time we go beyond and we give something away.
When you give energy, you gain energy. Every person knows that when you do nothing all day, you feel more tired than if you had worked.
But when you work, you have more energy than if you hadn’t given that energy away.
When you give strength by working out your muscles, you gain more muscles.
When you give time, somehow you seen to have more time, or you use your time better.
When you give knowledge away, God seems to sharpen your mind with new knowledge and wisdom.
When you give away your best ideas, more ideas flood your mind.
I want you to understand that when we go beyond and you give away what you have, you are declaring that God is your supplier of every resource needed to fulfill your dream.
By going beyond we are acknowledging that God gave us every minute of life and breath; God gave us the energy and strength to work, the mind to have ideas, and the heart to love.
Everything we have comes from Him, and the only way to make our dreams come true is by recognizing it and declaring with your actions: I will go beyond because my supply is unlimited.
That is the attitude God blesses!!
The key to reaching your dreams is emptying yourself.
Full vessels can’t be filled. A closed hand can’t receive anything. Instead of hoarding your hours, you should go beyond and serve others.
Instead of being tight-fist with your money, you should should find a need and meet that need.
That’s a signal to God that you put your dream in His hands and that you know you can’t fulfill it in your own time and with your own resources.
But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.
You see, once you learn the joy of go beyond and emptying yourself into other people’s lives by giving and serving then it will change you forever.
You won’t want to live any other way. Because it enlarges your spirit, and it empowers and multiplies other people’s dreams.
When you start going beyond and giving your dream away that when you will find your dream coming to pass.
A good example of this is Joseph in Book of Genesis. Joseph was stuck in prison for years, unable to follow his own dream.
while he was there in the prison, Joseph worked hard and supported Pharaoh’s dream with is best ideas and energy.
Then one day Joseph interpreted a dream for a prisoner, a butler who went on to be released and was given a position of power.
Later that butler remembered Joseph and soon Joseph became the second-in-command in Egypt.
That’s how God often works. Help someone else go beyond, serve and giving. Serve the best you can.
Sometimes, you will get involved in a dream that is much bigger than yours and it will have a draft effect and you will be pulled along.
This is the last thing this morning on go beyond:
You can give your time, your money, your encouragement, your advice and wisdom or anything of value that you posses.
But the single greatest way to go beyond and multiply people’s dream is by giving away love.
Love is like the other resources God gives us: it is unlimited.
You see, Love lives inside of us. That love never ends.
A poet: Robert Browning called it “Imprisoned Splendor.”
He wrote not of how to get love into us, but how to get the imprisoned love within us to flow to others.
If we find a way to go beyond what most people do and give away the love that God has put into us then it will come back multiplied.
Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you.
Love as if your love is unlimited, and you will find it is. We shouldn’t store love up. It is not for a rainy day.
It is a checking account, not a savings account.
God wants to love people but He wants to express it through us.
I am amazed that the more love I give away, the more I get in return.
Let’s close with this:
"For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
