Hey Grace Family!
Im Christian Delgado and I serve as the Grace Kids Weekend Coordinator! Its great to go through God’s word together through video!
Now as
Now given that we havent be able to meet in person together, I have found the book of Acts extremely encouraging to me during my bible reading because we see the Church flourishing and the gospel moving throughout the world and it is just so evident that God is working through his people. Why this relates is because I have just been in this point of feeling stuck (I think everyone does too) since I am not going to Church, I am not doing ministry or gathering weekly with the body I feel like its opened up my time a ton! Which has its good things and bad things but everyday I try and be excited for something and use my time wisely!
But what ive been realizing is that there is much to be excited about because God is always working, He is always moving to bring about His glory regardless of the circumstance and quite honestly nothing can stop Him from doing this because He always provides opportunity and we see this in the Book of Acts chapter 13 as Paul and Barnabas are in Antioch and they were in the synagogues and are asked to speak, so Paul gives this amazing presentation of the Gospel moving from the Exodus to the promised Jesus the Messiah of his death and resurrection, that the promises of David were fulfilled by Jesus and now the promise of eternal life are for the Jews and Gentiles to receive by faith and after that many people wanted more of God’s word read in verse
As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath.
And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.
Acts 13:42-43
God is working
Picking back up in verse 44
The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him.
And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.
For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
Acts 13:44-
God is working, then we have the first opposition to the gospel but that didn't stop Paul because He was on a mission. and lets see what God does
Acts 13:48-
And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.
And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.
But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.
But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium.
And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
You see the point of this is pretty simple: God’s Work will triumph over any opposition.
Now lets go back to verse 47, Paul quotes and applies it to himself, that Jesus works through the lives of His people and it cant be stopped.
Is this not true for us?
Though we are stuck in our places for a time God still has provided us opportunities to be a light to our community, to love our neighbors by getting groceries, calling loved ones and people we disciple, teaching our Children. So many ways to continue fulfilling the mission of Christ. That alone is enough to fill us with joy and excitement during this time. So Grace Family, even though we are not gathering together we are still worshipping God together by beings lights in our community and fulfilling our gospel call. We can indeed be joyful because God is working through us. Hope you're encouraged Grace Family.
Grace to you!
