Introduction and Main Theme

Introduction
What does it mean to be passive aggressive?
Wife telling me she would love if the trash was empty.
Why do we want to be passive aggressive sometimes?
Because we want the person to know something without us blatantly telling them!
To send a message
Main Theme
When we really study the OT, we see how God was trying to send us a unified message. He was performing various acts through His people to point our attention to something. He did this is many ways. Today, we will talk about how he did this through various occurence in the OT.
I want to point out 3 instances in the OT when God was pointing us to Christ
The Seed
The Exodus
King David

The Seed

This is where God said indirectly what was going to happen.
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
bHe shall 1bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
1 Or crush

The Exodus

This where God showed us what redemption would look like.
Moses was a type of Christ leading the people of God out of Egypt.
Leading us out of captivity and slavery

King David

This is where God showed us what our Lord would do
David was a foreshadow and type of Christ. Defeating an enemy that no one could.
Killing the enemy by ‘crushing his head’.

Conclusion

The whole Old Testament is kind of like an ‘advent’. Its main theme is about the coming of the Messiah.
When we read the OT, it’s important to read it with knowing that its all about Christ and his fulfillment.
Application
How can live this out over the coming weeks?
Living with the knowing that Christ has already fulfilled the requirement and redeemed His people.
Allowing the knowledge of what Christ has done lead us to help others understand His life and fulfillment all the more.
We live with a bigger trust and faith in Him because of what he fulfilled.
