Textbook:  A Survey of Israel’s History (rev. ed.) by Leon Wood

 

Requirements: 

 

(1)     Daily quizzes (except Quiz 8) will probe your knowledge of the textbook.  (Study guide for the first four assignments.)

(2)     Memorize chapter content.  Chapter content will be on all quizzes and tests and is cumulative daily

(3)     Learn lecture notes and handouts (for Test 1 and Final exam).

(4)     Memorize verses.  Lu. 24:44; II Tim. 3:15-17 (Test 1).  I Cor. 10:11; I Pet. 1:10-11 (Final exam).

(5)     Write two papers.

Paper 1:  Two-page, double-spaced, typed paper on the inspiration of the Old Testament.  Content should be based on the class lectures (supplementation from outside sources permissible).  Paper should have at least five paragraphs.

        Paragraph 1:  Key verses on the inspiration of the OT. 

        Paragraph 2:  OT proof of its inspiration. 

        Paragraph 3:  Proof of the inspiration of the Law and the Prophets

        Paragraph 4:  Proof of the inspiration of the Writings

        Paragraph 5:  Strongest proof (in your opinion) for the OT’s inspiration.

Paper 2:  Three- to four-page typed outline of the message of one of the following minor prophets (your choice!!):         (1) Joel; (2) Nahum; (3) Habakkuk; (4) Zephaniah; (5) Malachi.  Prayerfully read the prophetic book you choose.  Divide the book into logical sections.  Work up an outline that summarizes these sections.  Outline points must have at least two levels.  Outline should include paragraph discussions based on the Biblical text.  Employ any study tools available.  Please include a working bibliography and title page.
