Being Human

Paul’s final words to his young student Timothy shows Paul’s humanness.

2 Timothy 4:9-13

His physical needs:

1. Timothy, please come as soon as you can. Why? Because Demas has deserted me. Paul’s felt alone and distressed.

2. Bring my coat, books and papers. (Cold, needed mental inspiration. He needed to finish his taxes.

Coaching:

1. Don’t minimize just showing up in relationships. Paul didn’t need an angel, he needed a person.

2. Don’t underestimate the power of your friendship and faithfulness.

3. Sometimes the deepest things we need are the simplest things. (Bring my coat, books and papers)

4. Paul didn’t need a prophecy or a sermon. He needed a friend who would demonstrate love.

I Corinthians 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing!
