Ps 127:3-4
A lot of time, effort and money are spent on programs and activities for the children of the church and community.
To those who work so hard, does your effort have any real value or worth?
Is it worth the time, effort and cost?
Is it scriptural?
Is it something the Lord would have us do?
Can a child really praise God, if so does God recognize that praise?
What children are and where they are from.
Children are a gift from God.
Ps 127:3-4. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Children are a gift from God to fight evil.

Church is for the children because
Children are capable of glorifying God.
Ps 8:2; 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
Ps 148:12,13; 12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
Mt 21:15,16. 15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”
And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,
‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”
Church is for the children because
Children should be brought early to the house of God.
1Sa 1:24. 24 Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young.
Church is for the children because
Children should be brought to Christ.
Mr 10:13-16. 13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” 16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
Church is for the children because
Children should be instructed in the ways of God.
De 31:12,13; 12 Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, 13 and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live
Pr 22:6. 6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Church is for the children because
Children should be judiciously trained.
Pr 22:15; 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
The rod of correction will drive it far from him.
Pr 29:17; 17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest;
Yes, he will give delight to your soul.
Eph 6:4.
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Church is for the children because
Children should be taught to;
Obey God.
De 30:2. 2 and you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul,
Fear God.
Pr 24:21. 21 My son, fear the Lord and the king;
Do not associate with those given to change;
Remember God.
Ec 12:1. Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Attend to parental teaching.
Pr 1:8,9. 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the law of your mother;
9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head,
And chains about your neck.
Honor parents.
Ex 20:12; 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
Heb 12:9. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect.
Fear parents.
Le 19:3. ‘Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God.
Obey parents.
Pr 6:20; 20 My son, keep your father’s command,
And do not forsake the law of your mother.
Eph 6:1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Take care of parents.
1Ti 5:4. . 4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God.
Honor the aged.
Le 19:32; 2 ‘You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord.
1Pe 5:5. 5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Not imitate bad parents.
Eze 20:18. 18 “But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.
The Lord gives us warning concerning children that we would be wise to keep in mind.
Mt 18:6-7 6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
Mt 18:10 10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.
