You want to tell the story know anybody else? Okay, I'll tell the story.
So.
Let's see.
There was the war between the Philistines I think and Israel and every day they were lining up in this Valley and then both sides and taunting each other.
But then this big guy, Goliath on the Philistines side quite a big guy would come and he'd tell the Israelites see if If one of you comes and fights me and defeats me, you'll win the battle.
And if, and if I defeat them, there were the winners.
And you guys have to go away and he made fun of the Israelites every day in and David was Shepherd, boy.
He'd already been anointed to be king.
But he was still just Shepherd boy, son of Jesse and, but his older brothers, or in this war and so, His dad sent David with a cartload or whatever of food, for the brothers for their team at the war and David was excited to get to hear how the war was going and Steph when he got there.
And he heard Goliath, say all that he had to say.
And and David said got really mad.
Really, really mad, and he wanted to know what it what did they say about a prize for the person that that defeats Goliath that kills them?
And you got all excited about that.
In the king heard, the David wanted to fight Goliath.
Finally a volunteer.
The King was excited and he got his armor and said, hey put this on and it was so big and heavy, David is kind of I can't fight in this.
Yeah, that's right.
He took off the Armory went out just as he was, he got five round stones in his pouch and he went out there and he Did is sling and he threw it and he hit Goliath?
Right in the forehead and Goliath fell down and they won the battle that day.
and you know, that's such a great story but
not everybody wanted David to go out there.
His oldest brother was part of the army, his oldest brother, or maybe he was jealous of David.
I don't know.
This is what his oldest brother said to him.
Why have you come down here?
And
With whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness?
I know how conceited you are and how Wicked your heart is.
You came down only to watch the battle.
He didn't want David to fight Goliath.
He just wanted him to go home.
and, In our life, they'll be things will feel like doing and sometimes.
They're good things and some people will say yeah, do it gone, do it.
But here, here's his brother hears, family.
And the guys is discouraging him.
Want him to just go home and sometimes we'll have something in mind that we want to do it.
And others will will tell us, no, don't do that.
They'll give us bad advice.
So we need to know who to listen to you.
And I can be God's arrows too.
If we do, his will put doing his will above our bad desires.
Kind of like if someone brought home to your house, a box of donuts, your desire might be to take that box of donuts to your room and eat every one of them yourself.
But your God and your family would want you to share those donuts with everyone.
That's putting your desires under God's.
Will doing the right thing in your life.
They'll be many times for you to choose between the right thing and and what you think you'd rather do.
And let's pray that you learn to follow God's instructions so that you can have a good life here and a great time in heaven with Jesus.
Let's pray.
Father.
I do.
Pray that all of us will learn that will have people encouraging us and people discouraging us when we want to do the right thing and help us to listen to you and to put our will our desires under your guidance.
So that we don't make mistakes that hurt us or others in Jesus precious name.
Amen.
All right.
You are dismissed.
First question for today would be how far can a man fall or a woman in 5 minutes?
And no, I'm not talking about skydiving, you remember.
Last week we finished up with with Peter talking about Peter, answering that question.
Who is Jesus and he said you are the Messiah or in other translations.
You are the Christ.
Matthew tells us that when Peter made that, that good confession as it's sometimes called in Matthew 16.
Jesus replied, bless, you Simon, son of Jonah.
For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven, Wow, Isn't that cool?
If Peter had just spoken words revealed to him by God and he didn't even know it.
Maybe ever been talkin, maybe sharing with someone your life experiences, but your walk with Christ or whatever and something comes out of your mouth.
That is true.
But you go.
Where did that come from?
And sometimes you can have this feeling that it came from God.
It just might have
Now, we need to be careful in Discerning because as we'll see today, there are forces in this world that can pop ideas into our heads.
That are straight from the pit of Hell.
So Peter makes this huge declaration speaking for the group that Jesus is the Christ.
He has been with Christ long enough to know that this is true.
And Peter is excited to see the Messiah.
Probably expecting him to usher in the Kingdom.
Usher out.
The Romans any day now.
Then Jesus begins teaching.
That's a turning point in his ministry.
Jesus begins teaching about his death and resurrection.
And for once Peter.
Didn't just blurt out in front of everybody.
He kind of takes Jesus aside and rebukes him.
No, no, don't say.
That.
The picture I have 4 for you.
and,
Versa 32.
He spoke plainly about this.
That's who were actually skipping down in the section A little Yes, he's just spoken plainly about his death and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him about a side, really wasn't all that far.
Cuz all Jesus has to do is turn around and there's all the disciples were pretty much carrying the whole conversation.
But when Jesus turned around and looked at the disciples, he rebuked Peter get behind me.
Satan.
You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.
What, what a fall from getting phrase.
Well, what you're saying is coming straight from God.
You're you're giving out devil talk to you, shut up.
Wow, that is quite a fall and if we're not careful and you good and bad influences, can can affect what we say, what we promote.
They have to be careful what influences we allow in our life and we too can be just as unstable.
