Introduction
My message this morning is entitled:
I.
A Faith Without Works
My text is found in: John 2:14-26
What good is it if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions
Can that kind of faith save anyone?
If you see a brother or sister with no food or clothing,
and you say “good-bye, have a good day, stay warm & eat well”
And you don’t give that person any food or clothing, What good does that do?
Which brings us to our main text
3. Some people may have faith and others have good deeds (Vs.18)
a.
How can you show me your faith if you don't have good deeds?
b.
I will show you my faith by my good deeds
4. So you believe that there is one God.
(Vs.
19)
a. Good for you!
Even the demons believe this
5. Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
(Vs.
20)
What we need is ...
II.
A Faith Like Abraham
Abraham was shown to be righteousness before God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar
His faith and actions work together, His actions made his faith complete (Vs.
22)
Scripture says Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith, and he was called the friend of God.
(Vs.
23)
In other words, we are shown to be right with God … by what we do, not by faith alone.
So what do we need?
III.
A Faith That Works Together Is Active
Active faith is the pathway to miracles
Faith Inevitably calls us toward action, to the work within faith (lights, Camera, Action)
Some of you, are seeking the perfect will of God for your lives or ministries,
God opens unexpected doors intended to usher us into His destiny for our lives.
When God opens a door, it’s time move forward!
When God presents a clear divinely given opportunity, act on it!
in the book of Revelation He gives an example of an open door.
4. In this Scripture He is talking about the faithful church, the church of Philadelphia.
During this church age from Pentecost to the rapture, we are the ones identified as the church of Philadelphia.
The open door here is describing the rapture which takes place in 4th chapter of Revelation
After the fourth chapter of Revelation the church is no longer mentioned, we have been raptured.
