Jeremiah 31:3 KJV 1900
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: Therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
One of the man reasons that mankind is in the turmoil is because he/she have rejected and ignored God’s love and kindness.
God’s primary method of operation is through His love and Kindness (Ha-seed). Covenant kindness
The purpose of this message is for us to discern, understand, and receive the love and kindness of God.
Our main passage will come from 2 Samuel
2 Samuel 10 (KJV 1900)
1 And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead. 2 Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
Kindness is fruit of the Spirit- selfless, compassionate, and merciful. As New Testament believers out to emulate kindness. Ephesians 4: 31-32
Ephesians 4:31–32 KJV 1900
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
David was at point in his life that he wanted to show kindness to all those that helped him in past.
In the last chapter he showed kindness to Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth. (He received God’s kindness)
I pray God cause this church be a place where people can feel , experience, and receive the kindness and Love of God.
Now David has shown kindness to a new king the lost his father.
There is no record of the act of kindness that Nahash showed to David- Ammon was enemy of Israel but it was something in the past that made David desire to honor him . Let’s see how the new king receives David. kindness.
2 Samuel 10:3 KJV 1900
3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
Mistake 1: Hanun took advice about David’s motives without investigating the matter first. -
Hanun should have interview with David servants himself.
Principal- NEVER ASSUME get clarity investigate, observe, and pray. Matthew 26:41
Matthew 26:41 KJV 1900
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 18:15 KJV 1900
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
1 Corinthians 13:7 KJV 1900
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Don’t be ruled by a spirit of suspicion, fear, do not be a toxic person. Believe the best in people until their actions prove you wrong. Look at Hanun reacted when his suspicion and fear ruled him.
2 Samuel 10:4 KJV 1900
4 Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
Without questioning the servants, seeking understanding . Hanun assumed that were spies trying to overthrow.
Hunan's actions showed that he and his advisors were insure and unwise. Often times immature and insecure people react in ways where they project what that would do in how they treat other.
Principle: Don’t be surprise when others try to embarrass or humiliate you because of their insecurities. Do not stoop to their level.
1 Peter 4:12 KJV 1900
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
1 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
2 Samuel 10:5 KJV 1900
5 When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
David honored his men and did not want the to be more embarrassed by returning back to Isreal.
2 Samuel 10:6 KJV 1900
6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ish-tob twelve thousand men.
When Ammon realized their action were stink before David (repulsive) The failed to humble themselves and repent.-
The got others involved.- Do not get involved in other people mess.
2 Samuel 10:18 KJV 1900
18 And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
Their acts of aggression led to an unnecessary war and death of over 40,000 men.
How do you receive God Kindness?
Do you questions other motives without get understanding?
