I think that I have a very intriguing and interesting subject today because of the day, what we're going to talk about the title of this sermon is do I have a guardian angel. Do I have a guardian angel? Now many people today think that that we all have a personal, Angel assigned to us? And that when we get in trouble or when we have a need that God will send that angel to us to help us in our need. Now. Let me say the Bible. We've already looked at many scriptures that talk about angels and what they do. And we already know that angels are very prevalent. They were very prevalent in the lives of Old Testament Saints in the lives of New Testament Saints, and probably even in our day as well. So we want to look at this whole concept of a guardian angel and do we have each one, an individual Angel. So it was a full page ad. In a specific magazine, I can't remember the name, but I wrote down the title of the ad and it was get in touch with your guardian angel. Did you can get in touch with your guardian angel and the ad kind of promised the readers that we have our own personal spiritual guides in an angel and we can be layered to a lot of luck and happiness. Let me tell you what the ad actually said. I'm going to read, I wrote this. Now. This is what the ad said, surround yourself with true love and protection, free yourself from stress and worry, never feel alone. Again. He'll illness solve problems, make your personal dreams, improve your life in an astonishing way. Well, is, is that what we look for from angels from healing and true love? And will angels protect us. Will they relieve stress and worry in our life? To never feel alone. Should I be talkin and praying to my angel? Will my angel, keep me company? Is, you know, is that what angels are all about? Is this what we should be seeking and expecting from angels? And then of course, does everyone have his own Angel to look after him? Let me say this to begin with that. The Bible, does it talk about angels protecting us and guarding us and delivering us and things of that nature. So, in one sense, that's true, but let's just a broken this down today in 24 points and and hopefully, this here will give us some more clarity on Angels, especially Guardian Angel. Say, let's look at point one in that is Angels involved with the children of God. So does Aunt does God have angels? Specifically for the purpose of guarding his children and what does the Bible say? About Guardian Angels. Well, there's an Old Testament promise that kind of says in a general way that there are Guardian Angels. So we going to put some scriptures up on the board here and Loveland through 12 and I want you to look at this scripture at what it I know are. There we go. In their speaking of angels, they shall bear you up. Lest you dash your foot against a stone. Now. Verse 11 says, he will give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your way. He will give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your way. Well, there's also a passage in the New Testament that seems to say. The Angels watch and they know what we're going through. Look at 1st Corinthians, chapter 4 and verse night. Well, I think that God has displayed. Display dust the apostles last as men condemned to death. For, we have been made a spectacle to the world, both two and two men. We have been made a spectacle to work. So it seems to say the Angels know exactly what's going on in our lives. And there's many incidents. In the Bible that prove that the Angels were personally involved, Who deliver Daniel from the Lion's Den, an angel was there with Daniel in the Lion's Den, Who deliver the apostles from prison Angels. Did, Who deliver Peter from prison Angels dead and God sent an angel to encourage Paul. So let's look at this concept of angels, for individuals. And let's ask the question, does each believer have his own Angel to watch over him and protect him. Well, I have found two scriptures in the Bible that seem to point to That's not what I want you to do. Is I want you to take your Bibles this morning, and I want you to turn to idols. Now we're going to I'm going to look at another verse first, but I want you to turn the Acts chapter 12 cause we're coming to that but there's two scriptures in the Bible that kind of speak of guardian angels in the first one. I want us to put on the board is Matthew chapter 18 and verse 10. Now, this is Jesus speaking to the disciples now. Watch what he says. He says, take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones. Speaking of little children, for I say to you, that in heaven, their Angels, always see the face of my father, who is in heaven? That seems to say that these children that he's talking about. Have Guardian Angels, because he says here because in heaven, their Angels, always see my face. So, apparently some of God's angel are a sign to stand ready. Before the father to instantly, calm and help. To protect and care for God's children and God calls these angels. And I want you to notice what he said. He says, they're Angels plural. He didn't say their own specific Angel for them will come and help. He says, they're Angels plural. So that makes it sound like that? These children have more than one angel. And it is poor. Well, the second passage, that's kind of speaks of a guardian. Angel comes from Acts chapter 12. So I want you to look there. You've already turned their Acts chapter 12 and let's read this passage here because this is when Peter was in prison. And Herod was kind of persecuting the people there. He killed James. The brother of John and verse 2. And look at verse 3 and because he saw that it pleased the Jews. He proceeded further to seize Peter also now that was the days of unleavened bread. So when he had arrested him, so he had Peter arrested, he put him in prison and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him intending to bring him before. The people after Passover verse 5, Peter was there for camp in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. Constant prayer verse six and when Harry was about to bring him out that night. Peter was sleeping, not watch how he was sleeping here. Bound with to change change between two soldiers and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. So here he is asleep. And on one hand. He was chained to one soldier. And the other hand, he was change to another one. And then you had the guards outside the jail cell. Alright verse 7 Navajo, an angel of the Lord stood by him and a light Shone in the prison. And he struck Peter on the side and raised him up saying a rice quickly and his chains fell off his hands. So, here's an angel Peters asleep, and he nudges him. He said, Peter get up. Get up. We're leaving here right now. To look at verse. 8. Then the angel said to him, gird yourself and tie on your sandals. And so he did. And he said him put on your garment and follow me. He's and Peter get dressed, we get ready to go. So he went out and fought him and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but he thought he was seeing the vision Peter couldn't believe it. He says, I am I dreaming this. Did this Angel? Just come and deliver me first, then when they were past the first and the second guard post, they came to the Iron Gate that leads to the city which opened to them of his own accord and they went out and went down one street, meet Lee Angel, the party from him. Now watch what happens and when Peter had come to himself, he said now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his Angel and has delivered me from the hand of hair and from all the expectations of the Jewish people. And I want you to watch what happened starting at verse 12. He goes To the house of Mary and I want you to notice what they say about Peter when he standing there at the door. And I watch this because it gives us an idea of how people look that angels in that day first. Well, so when he had considered, as he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was marked where many were gathered together praying, so they were praying for Peter and his Peter knocked at the door of the gate. A girl named Rhoda came to answer when she recognized Peter's voice because of her gladness. She didn't open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. So she was so excited. She heard me praying. They're probably thinking he was getting ready to be killed verse 15. She ran in and out that Peter stood before the gate verse 15, but they said to her, you are beside yourself. Yet, she kept insisting. That it was so. Now, watch what they said so they said it's his angel. What what what are they saying here? They're saying that that's not Peter. Now, here. They are. Christians gathered here, praying for Peter's release. But inside, they were thinking he's really dead and you're not talkin to Peter is his angel that you were talking to now, Peter continue knocking and when they open the door and saw him, they were astonished. So this gives us the idea of how people in that day, every person in that day or a lot of people in that day thought that each person had a personal Angel, but if you read this story, you'll see that the main thinking was That your personal Angel, not only sounded like you but it looked like you. They were saying, no, that's not Peter. That's his Angel. You say angels look like us and they sound like us because we all have a personal angel that seems to be what they are saying here, and they were gathered to pray and they were sure that Peter was going to be killed in prison and they thought, the angel had come to announce his death is what they thought. They thought it was his angel. Now many of the church fathers believe in individual particular. Angel Thomas Aquinas was a theologian. And this is what he said. He said, Guardian Angels were assigned to you at your birth. And if you had not been born yet and you were still in the womb of your mother, then it was your mother's Guardian. Angel who protected you Meaning of the church fathers thought that you had guardian angels and that they look like you and sounded like you and if you were not even born yet, but you was in your mother's womb than you were protected by her guardian angel. That's what a lot of the church fathers. But at the same time, in church history, mini rejected this thing of guardian angels. I know you probably heard of John Calvin. Listen to what he said about this issue of guardian angel. Whether individual angels have been assigned, the individual Believers for their protection. I dare not a firm with popping. Its specific angels have been appointed as Guardians over kingdoms and provinces we out to hold that as a fact that the care of each one is, not the task of one Angel only. But all with one consent, watch over our Salvation. Johnstown said, no, we are not assigned the individual Angel. He said, God, sends angels angels, protect us. We don't have individual God, Justin call own as many as he wants to whatever he needs. So There seems to be situations in the Bible when several Angels were called into action on behalf of God's people. Remember last week. We talked about Elijah and his servant. Come, he was looking at the mountains and he saw all the enemies and Elijah. Praise the Lord, open his eyes to see and all of a sudden he look and he saw a multitude of angels around the enemy that they that we're going to protect them. So you can sometime the gods caused. Many angels. It says several Angels Carrie Lazarus, soul to Abraham's bosom. Jesus was talkin and the night that he was arrested, Peter pulled out of sword and chopped off the ear of malkis. Jesus looked at him and said Peter, put your sword up. He said, don't you know that if I wanted to I could call on the father and he would send twelve Legions of angels. What does that mean? He didn't say he would send my personal assigned Angel to me. He said, God can send twelve Legions. What's the legion? Will that was a military unit. One Legion was six thousand soldiers. Jesus said, you can send what he could send. Well, he can send 72000 Angels Peter and rescue me. That's what Jesus was saying. He didn't say he will send my angel. He said he can send 72,000 of them if he wanted to. You see, we get excited about eat saint. Having his or her own guardian angel. But the song is, right? And we already looked at it and inverse 90 91:11 and 12 that he shall give his angels charge over you plural Angels plural. Well. So whether we have a an assigned guardian angel, I'm not going to sit up here and say, yes we do. Or no. We not, but it just seems like the Angels, Coral are involved. All right, let's talk about how the Angels intervene in our life today. This is number 3.3 how Angels intervene today. I want to give you five ways. Hear that Angels intervene in our Lot. Number one is, in time of confusion. They direct us. If you'll remember,, Cornelius a gentile. He saw an angel who told him to send for Peter and through through what happened after that event, the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles, and the Jews with Peter understood that Jesus was for Gentiles. Also, Cornelius was, he was kind of confused, but an angel, cleared things up. And again, the basic meaning of the word, Is Messenger. These are God's Messengers and the Bible does not sensationalize me on. As many people do today, angels are sent, but just remember that The Messengers are no more important than the sender. And God is the one who sends them be. In times of Crisis, Angels strengthen us when Jesus was praying In The Garden of Gethsemane. The Bible says, then, an angel appeared to him from heaven. Strengthening him at the most crucial moment. In times of a crisis. God will send his angels sometime. To strengthen us. In times of sickness, Angels assist us if you would go and look at your Bible at John chapter 5. It talks about a pool of water, the name of it was Bethesda. And an angel. It said would come and stir the water in the first one who could get in the water would be healed. But God sent an angel to stir the water first at Bethesda. So in times of sickness sometimes, angels will assist us d. In times of Despair, sometimes angels will encourage us. Now. Let me give you an example of this Old Testament, Abraham. Remember when God said they're going to have a son. And they waited and waited and waited and didn't have a son. So Sarah came up with something else. Another plan that if you'll go into my little handmade and have a son by her, that'll be our son. Then we will have a son. Well that started a Family Feud right there. That has never ended. That was that's the feud is going on in the Middle East today. It started right there. So when this little this little boy was born, his name was Ishmael is born to Hagar Sarah became jealous of Hagar because she had Abraham's son. So she run her off and she just said her off. She said no, you just go into the Wilderness. You're not wanted here anymore. So she goes into the Wilderness. And the Bible says that she was sitting there and she was in such Despair and she was sobbing and she was crying and all of a sudden. An angel appeared to her and told her that she was not alone and told her, that her son would be blessed. Matter fact, the name of her son Ishmael. It means that God hears. In other words, when we were in despair, when we're so discouraged, God knows exactly what's going on. And God, hears us. A matter of fact, the place was called, beer, Locker, Rory. And that means you are the God who sees she was in such despair, but God saw her and he sent an angel to encourage her. And then e last Lee in times of danger angels, protect us. There was a story of a lady out in California name was Deborah Faust. She had four children and her husband was on a business trip, and she was in the bed one night and she heard this crackling sound. And all of a sudden, she started smelling smoke and she figured out that the house was on fire and she run downstairs. And she looked, and she thought or the children up there. She had. One of the children with her are two of them was with her that the older one, and the younger one, but the two middle, what are upstairs. She said she run out house. Got the first two children and she was going to run up the steps, but the smoke was so thick. It was so hot that she couldn't get up there. And she said, I looked up the stairway and there stood, My Two children and she said, they were two men standing there beside them, had them by the arm, and ushered them down the steps. And when they come outside at the front door, she said my two children were standing there, but the men were nowhere to be found. And one of the children said to her said Mama, Daniel, which was the other middle child, Daniel grabbed my arm and brought me down the stairs. He saved me. And Daniel said, I didn't grab her arm. He said matter fact, someone grabbed my arm. You say it was she said it was two angels that rescued those children in times of danger, angels, protect us and maybe as I say it, maybe Pat had an angel the other day when he was under that car. Well, let's close with this. Two principles to remember and this is our last Point number 42 principles to remember. So, as we kind of try to assimilate all this information on Guardian Angels, let's just keep these things in my number one. First of all, guardian angels are not for everybody. You say, what who are they for? Well, look at Hebrews 1:14. Are they not all? Speaking of angels, ministering Spirits sent forth to minister for those who will not inherit salvation there for those of us who are safe. That's who they're not for everyone. Who here, the 2nd of April. My angel. There's my angel. That know. The Bible says, that angels are Guardian Angels ever had, you want to say it or sent forth the minister for those who will inherit salvation, God's people. So angels are not for everybody number 2. Angels could be anybody. You say what do you mean by that? Look at Hebrews 13. Verse to do. Not forget to entertain strangers for by. So, doing some have unknowingly entertained, angels. You never know. You say Where Angels Are Spiritual Beings where they are, but sometimes they appear in physical form. And we never know who we may be talkin to. Let me closer this story. Here. There was a lady from Australia. Her name was eufy, which is kind of unusual now. And she arrived in Los Angeles for the first time. And even though it was dark outside, when she got there. She had gotten there on a bus. And when the bus, let everyone off, even though it was dark, she decided she was so excited that she wanted to go and look around. She couldn't wait to explore and she took a walk and she kind of ended up in a bad neighborhood and she was by herself. And she said, I heard a car passing, I turned around and in the car lot. She said, I saw three men who were lurking behind me trying to keep out of sight in the shadows. She said, I started trembling. I was scared. I was afraid and she said I did what I always do when I'm afraid. She said I bow my head and I asked God to rescue me. She said I looked up and all the sudden here, come a man in front of me in a fast. Walk coming toward me. She said now I've got three men behind the following me and now I have another one in front of me. She says I have no way out. I am surrounded and she said she looked and it was dark, but the man coming toward her, she could see him like it was bright as day and she didn't understand that. It said he was dressed in a work shirt with a pair of blue jeans and he was tearing a lunch pail, and he was over six feet tall, and he was very good-looking. That's the only thing that she can say. And she says, I ran to him, and he looked at me and said, come with me. I'll take you to safety. And about that time, he took her back to the bus station. And he looked at him and he said, have a good night. You see? And she said, thank you and she turned around and she thought to herself how in the world did this man, know a woman. First name with an unusual name like that. I never told him my name. And she said I turned around to ask him. How did he know my name? And she said he was gone that he had vanished. And she said, I just know that God had sent an angel to rescue me. So do angels guard us and direct us and strengthen and assist us and encourage us and protect us. Yes, they do. Do we each have a specific certain, Angel assigned to us? I don't know, but it seems like the Bible teaches that God sends Angels plural to help us in. Need. But whatever the issue is, we want to have a Biblical understanding of angels and it's, because they are God's Messengers. And when we need help, when we are in trouble, when we are discouraged, when we need help. God will send the help that we need. Amen. Well as pray, father, we do. Thank you. Praise, You, Lord and love you today for your word. And Lord, as we've studied this about guardian angels. We know the angels exist. Lord. We know that by reading scripture and by reading the stories of other Christians, Lord, that many have been helped by Angels Lord. We thank you that they will assist us and care for us and encourage us and strengthen us and direct us and it maybe even give us the wisdom that we need to make right decisions and Lord whether we all have our own personal angel or whether or not you have Angels on the stand by that, you can send to us. We just thank you for that. We thank you for your creation and lower. We look forward to one day, seeing you in heaven and being there with the angels and worshipping with them as we cry out your name and we worship the one and true God, the only savior this world will ever know forcing Christ name. I do pray. Amen.
