Matthew 6:13 NKJV
13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Kingdom/Power/Glory
Kingdom=Prayer is about God
Power= Thought the Holy Spirit
Glory=In ways we are gifted
Acts 1:1–3 ESV
1 In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
40 days Jesus taught them about the Kingdom of God. He taught them about the authority of God. Remember a Kingdom is where the king has dominion.
Acts 1:6 ESV
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
The desciples were still looking for the 2nd coming. But God had something great for them/us to do. Remember a few weeks ago we discussed we are in the kingdom of God currently.
Acts 1:7–8 ESV
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Don’t worry about my second coming, but I am going to give you power to witness.
When we pray we are filled with the power of GOd
Acts 4:31 ESV
31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
Prayer activates the Spirit inside of us giving us boldness to do the will of God and speak the word of God.
Understand. Recieving the Holy Spirit is a one time thing: During Jesus Baptism Jesus REcieved the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit like a dove ascended onto Jesus. But being filled is a daily thing
We are filled with the Holy Spirit when we pray
Lastly it’s about His glory
2 Peter 1:17 ESV
17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,”
When we recieve the Holy Spirit We are gifted to be used in God’s Kingdom for His Glory.
Remember
Exodus 33:18 ESV
18 Moses said, “Please show me your glory.”
Exodus 33:19 ESV
19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
Show me your glory—I will show you what my gift is: I am goodness
1 Peter 4:11 ESV
11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Romans 11:36 ESV
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
