Pretty much everyone loves Christmas, right? What all do we love about Christmas?
Let people call out some answers
But why do we celebrate Christmas? The reason for the season is…?
It’s the celebration of Jesus’ birth. God came from Heaven to Earth, taking on flesh, to live a human life. Why?
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
In his own words, simply put...
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
He came to seek and save the lost, that was his mission. But He ascended back to Heaven at the end of his time on Earth. And there are still lost people who will be saved. So how is Jesus accomplishing what He came for?
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Through us. As we celebrate Jesus’ arrival on Earth, let’s remember why He came to us and that He has handed the mission off to his people until He returns. So how do we carry it on?
pray
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost and He put us in charge when He went back.
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost and He put us in charge when He went back.
How are the lost saved?
How are the lost saved?
The lost are saved by putting their faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by believing in the Gospel.
God created humans in his image. Adam and Eve, our first parents, rebelled against God and entered into sin and brought a sinful nature to humanity.
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
Sin separates us from God.
but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Jesus lived a sinless life.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Jesus died a sinner’s death
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Jesus conquered death and sin and rose from the grave.
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
All who believe this Gospel will be saved.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Receiving credit for Jesus’ sinless, righteous life and having their sins paid for by Jesus’ death.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Gaining the promise of victory over sin and death.
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Stop here and offer an opportunity to respond to the Gospel
So all that is kind of a lot to remember, so we’re going to look at a couple different methods of sharing the Gospel.
The Romans Road
The Romans Road
The Brian Wirges version
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
