Thesis/ Central Idea:
Do not return to your life before Jesus for He is more significant than your past.
Introduction:
The Holy Spirit moves the Hebrew writer to reveal to its recipients that Jesus is greater than the Prophets and the Angels.
The audience of Hebrews was mostly former Jews now Christian who were considering going back to Judaism, due to persecution and a misunderstanding of who Jesus was.
Their misunderstanding was on the basis of how to relate to Him.
Was he just one of the Prophets or was He an Angel?
The Holy Spirit then moves His human instrument to reveal that for awhile Jesus, who is greater than the Angels, then took a position lower.
This would be a difficult concept for Jews.
Although Angels are Super-Natural beings, they are not divine.
Hebrews then goes on to explain the purpose for Jesus lowering Himself, which was an effort to achieve salvation for those in mankind who would believe in His name.
[So it is revealed to us that we must…]
