I. Jesus’ Dreadful Prediction vs. 27-31
A. Jesus quotes Zec.
13:7, and tells the remaining disciples that they will abandon Him.
B. They all deny it especially Peter.
Usually, the one who cries the loudest did it!
C. Imagine the mixed emotions that this stirred.
The disciples were confused and concerned about Jesus.
Jesus was in agony mentally and spiritually and concerned about the disciples.
II.
Jesus’ Dreadful Prayer vs. 32-42
A. Jesus leaves 8 disciples in a certain place.
He takes His inner circle to pray and then goes by Himself.
Some people you just trust more, but some burdens can only be between you and God.
B. The disciples had seen Jesus almost every day for 3 1/2 years.
They've seen Him, happy, sad, angry, and any emotion, but this one.
This should have been enough for them to stay up, and keep watch.

C. When's the last time, we've prayed this prayer, and really meant it?

D. Notice, Jesus calls him by his old name.
Peter was acting like his old self.
Peter (the spiritual person) was weak, but Simon (the flesh) is weak.
We cannot face our temptations, and trials on our own.
When we do, we set ourselves up for some really hard times.
We need to humble ourselves, submit to Yahweh, and be on alert, for where we are weak.

E. There comes a time, when you must face the situation at hand.
The question is, are you prayed up, and prepared, or like the disciples you are asleep physically and spiritually.
III.
Jesus’ Dreadful Placement vs. 43-52
A. This would have shocked the disciples, so bad that they were probably speechless.
No one suspected Judas, until it happened, then they realize how terrible he was, when no one was looking.

B. What Jesus predicted came true.
The young man was probably Mark.
C. While it was predicted, it happened because they were not watchful.
D. We need to be watchful, and remember, this was Thursday, it seemed bleak, but Sunday was coming.
