Introduction:
Welcome everyone.
The Core Series: Rescue
What does rescue mean?
How many have notice their is a lot of evil in the world?
We need to recognize our need for
Scripture Reading:
In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me
to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set free the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.

What’s Wrong in the World?
What’s Wrong in the World?
1.) The age-old question.
2.) Gun Violence and Middle East Conflict
“Materialism, hatred, violence, and corruption are wrong, but there is something deeper. What is the problem? We are.”
“When our first parents, Adam and Eve, rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, perfection and the image of God became blemished and broken.” The curse of sin entered the world. This curse brings pain, suffering, evil, and selfishness.”
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
“The reason many get frustrated and don’t see what’s wrong with the world is because Satan is doing his best to blind many about the truth.”
In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient.
So, if the sin that is in our hearts causes us to be the problem, how can it be made right?
What Can Make It Right?
What Can Make It Right?
Many in the world have tried to make the world “right.”
Lies being sold as truth:
1.) “Be true to ourselves.”
While it sounds good, being true to ourselves will cause more issues. Those who tend to sell this want to create their own path and live out their “truth” and not God’s truth.
2.) “Be good”
Just try to live as best as we can. Yes we will make mistakes, but we should strive to do more “good” that will out weigh our “bad”.
Instead of asking “what does the world say?”, let’s start asking, “What does God’s Word say?”
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—
We can’t save ourselves, we someone to rescue us from our sinful nature. That Someone, is The Only One, Jesus Christ.
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me
to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set free the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Recap: The problem with the world is us. The curse of sin. We can’t save ourselves, only Jesus Christ can. The question that comes up then is “Now What?”
Now What?
Now What?
If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are trusting in Him to rescue you, the question you might be asking, “What should I do now?”
1.) Have a Great Commission Mindset:
Also, ‘Whoever takes an oath by the altar, it means nothing; but whoever takes an oath by the gift that is on it is bound by his oath.’ Blind people! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? Therefore, the one who takes an oath by the altar takes an oath by it and by everything on it.
(Craig will talk more about this in detail on Saturday at Winter Retreat)
“We are all mere beggars telling other beggars where to find bread.”
“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.
2.) Have a Heavenly Mindset:
For we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come. Therefore, through him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
What is wrong with the world? Us. Who came to rescue us? Jesus Christ.
Sin taints us and the world and we are unable to take it back.
(Intro Falling Plates Video)
What if Jesus isn’t real? What if Christianity is made up? Paul says we should be pitied. But let me ask you this question, “What if it is real? What if Jesus Christ isn’t made up?” Do you really want to stand before the Creator trembling in fear knowing you denied the truth? The enemy is trying to blind everyone, including you in your seats tonight, from the truth. What I have shared with you tonight is the truth. The world is broken because of us. The sin that lives inside us. We personally can’t fix ourselves our the brokenness of this world, but my is knowing that Someone can, did, and will. His name is Jesus Christ. Are you ready to trust in Him?
