Life is full of experiences.
Life is full of experiences.
From the moment we are born to the day we die we will have experiences.
Experiences are powerful.
Experiences are powerful.
This is extremely important for us to understand. to some this is a “no-brainer”. To others experiences are a necessary evil. Experiences can shape us for the good or be very detrimental. We cannot always just think away our experiences. I believe it is best to integrate our experiences by facing them.

Just because we experience something does not mean it is true nor good, even if it appears that way to begin with.
We must submit experiences to Scripture.

As we journey through Scripture we see this work in action. For the faithful Jews the sign of the law and of Abraham was circumcision. Yet this was not meant to be “permanent”. God promises in Jeremiah 31.33 that a new day would be coming.

This is the question of Paul. You want to go backwards or keep moving forward in faith.
The opposite of “flesh/works” is the Spirit.

Sometimes we see faith being the opposite of works, and in some places it is. But here the opposite is not our faith but the Spirit.
Abraham is the example of faith.

Jews would trace back to him as the start of the nation. This was accurate and necessary but incomplete. To be God’s people is not equivalent with being a good Jew.

Faith in trusting when God speaks He is speaking truth. Faith that Christ is sufficient in saving us from sin. Faith that if we submit to the Spirit we are submitting to life.

We cannot continue forward if we are not willing to submit and lay down our pride, arrogance, selfishness, independence, and seek the life of the Spirit.
