Breaking of Generational Curses
Breaking of Generational Curses
31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
God cursed the earth (Genesis 3:17-19)
How I was led to this truth
Define blessings and curses—emphasize continuation from one generation to
another—families as well as individuals.
New Dictionary of Biblical Theology Blessing/Curse
Blessing and cursing are both key concepts in Scripture. Biblical writers and characters wish or pray that good, beneficial and desirable things, or bad, disadvantageous and undesirable things, will happen to others. In some instances the blessing or curse is understood to be in itself a powerful and effective mechanism for ensuring that such good or bad things will happen to others. The words of blessing and cursing are thought to have inherent, autonomous power, so that once spoken they cannot be recalled, and unless some greater power is invoked to combat them the good or bad that they have called for is bound to happen
Examples of blessings
From God (note cause)
15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
From man on behalf of God
27 And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: “Surely, the smell of my son Is like the smell of a field Which the Lord has blessed. 28 Therefore may God give you Of the dew of heaven, Of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of grain and wine. 29 Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!”
33 Then Isaac trembled exceedingly, and said, “Who? Where is the one who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him—and indeed he shall be blessed.”
37 Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?” 38 And Esau said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me—me also, O my father!” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept. 39 Then Isaac his father answered and said to him: “Behold, your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, And of the dew of heaven from above. 40 By your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
The same principles apply to curses
The word “curse” occurs nearly 200 times in Scripture
There is always a cause for a curse
2 Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight.
18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
35 They conceive trouble and bring forth futility; Their womb prepares deceit.”
Every Human being is born under curse
Tyndale Bible Dictionary Futility
FUTILITY Frustration, vexation, uselessness, and meaninglessness
evil, calamity, injustice, sin, deception, false, unprincipled, vain, vanity, idol, worthless,
John Piper expands it to say, “…it is referring to an empty, meaningless, unprofitable way of living that ends with destruction. It says that these ‘futile ways’ are connected with our ancestors.” And what is the result? “There is a sense of fatalism that we are bound to live with the curse or the wounds from our ancestry. The future seems futile and void of happiness.”
Effects of blessing (summed up):

Effects of curses (summed up):

Sin, transgression & iniquity

Iniquity -bloodline as a stronghold
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
7 Our fathers sinned and are no more, But we bear their iniquities.
9 “Therefore I will yet bring charges against you,” says the Lord, “And against your children’s children I will bring charges.
21 Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man.
12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Sin - Jesus bore the sin of the humanity
Transgressors - Jesus intercedes
Iniquity - bruised , crushed
It costed Jesus everything
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
God is bound by His words: We have to appropriate the finished work of the cross and get released from generational curses through prayer and confession

Release from curses
•Establish scriptural basis
(Gal. 3:13–14; Eph 1:7; Col. 1:12–14;
1John 3:8b; Luke 10:19)
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
• Confess your faith in Christ and commit yourself to obedience (Confess your sins and ancestral sins )
40 ‘But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,
•Forgive yourself and others
•Renounce all contact with occult
•Get rid of all contact objects
•Release yourselves in the name of Jesus
•Confess and accept the blessings of Abraham
Prayer of release
•Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You are the Son of God and the only way to God. That You died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. That on the cross You were made sin with my sinfulness that I might be made righteous with Your righteousness. And also that You were made a curse with any curse that might come upon me.
Now, Lord, I come to You for deliverance from any such curse. I repent of any sins that have caused it to come, whether by me or by my ancestors. I receive Your forgiveness. I take my stand now against the devil and all his pressures, and everything he wants to do against me. In the name of Jesus, I resist him. I refuse to submit any longer to him.
In the name of Jesus, I now release myself from any curse over my life. Because of what Jesus did for me, in His name I release myself and I receive the release now by faith with thankfulness.
Lord, I thank You now. I praise You now. I believe You’re faithful. I believe You are doing what I’ve asked You to do. All I can do, Lord, is thank You and praise You, commit my life to You—that from now on, Your blessing may rest upon me. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Thank You.
Confession of faith
•Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross I have passed out from under the curse and entered into the blessing of Abraham who god blessed in all things exaltation, health, prosperity, reproductiveness, victory, God’s favor and God’s friendship.
Amen! Hallelujah!
You are free now .. now go set someone free!
