Overview:

Proverbs answers the question “What kind of world is this that we operate inside?”.
Wisdom is personified in Proverbs as a Brilliant teacher. She is an expert in all things that pertain to life.
Wisdom or chokmâh in Hebrew is an attribute of God. God used to creatively weave the fabric of the world together.
Wisdom = invisible creative force and as you operate in wisdom, you are operating in the cause and effect patterns that the all-wise character of God has put in place.
Wisdom is personified as a woman crying in the streets to all who will hear, learn, and follow her advice.
The warning of Proverbs 1:32
Proverbs 1:32 KJV 1900
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
teaches the result of not heading Wisdom’s advice.
Wisdom is available
Anyone can interact with wisdom in their everyday, personal lives.
The skillfulness of artist.
Your journey in wisdom must begin with a fear of God. Learning to respect God’s laws/boundaries and respecting Him enough to not cross the laws He’s given.
Overview: Proverbs 10-31
A Collection of proverbs about many various subjects of life.
Wisdom is applied to these. These sayings provide a framework, a path, to follow in order to find success and blessing in whatever God wants you to do.
Happiness, health, prosperity, and length of life are all pointed to as a result of seeking and finding wisdom.
Proverbs 3:6–10 KJV 1900
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
The wise will increase, it is a promise from God.

Soloman: A Brief Biography

King Solomon rained during the golden age of Israel, a time of national and economic prosperity. As Solomon began his kingship, he was visited by the Lord in a dream while and Gideon to make a sacrifice. God tells him he may have anything he desires and the new king asks for one thing, wisdom. (I Kings 3:6 - 9) God was so pleased with Solomon’s request, he promised to give Solomon everything that anyone could’ve requested.
1 Kings 3:6–9 KJV 1900
6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
He, like his father David, desire to govern God’s people with "an understanding heart”.
1 Kings 3:9 KJV 1900
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
1 Kings 4:29 KJV 1900
29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
During Solomons reign, he expanded the boundaries of Israel, achieved economic success, constructed a magnificent palace, built the first temple in Jerusalem, and placed the ark of the covenant in the most holy room of the temple.
Solomons wisdom is recorded in the book of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and even to psalms 72, and 127. I Kings 4:32 says that by the end of his life Solomon had spoken over 3000 proverbs and written 1005 songs! But why is advice is often easier given and taken. King Solomon married over 700 foreign wives and had 300 concubines. What a marriage is like this in an ancient world were a way of forming political and economic alliances between nations. Solomon may have seen his many marriages as a means to strengthen his kingdom, but in the end, this proved to be a foolish path to follow, as it weakened his relationship with God. As one of his proverbs says,
Proverbs 14:12 KJV 1900
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.
In his old age, Solomon set up numerous palaces of worship for the gods of his many wives and his heart turned toward these idols. No longer was his heart “perfect with the Lord his God,…”
1 Kings 11:4 KJV 1900
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
As Moses had said centuries earlier and Jesus would say centuries later the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord thy God with all...".
Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV 1900
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Matthew 22:37 KJV 1900
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
During most of Solomon's reign, Israel was united and prosperous. Upon Solomon step, however, Solomon left behind a fragile kingdom on the verge of breaking apart.
