That’s what Palm Sunday is, at the edge of Holy Week, the beginning of the week in which Jesus does what he’s come to do.
Jesus is situated on the hill right next to the hill of Jerusalem, and he’s prepared to make an entrance

Compared to Caesar, a humble animal.
But in the context of Jewish history, an animal ridden by kings.
And for the person who knew scripture well, this scene would have brought several scriptures to mind
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!”
