What is Grace ?

The cross was an act of Grace which is giving us what we don’t deserve
Romans 4:5 CSB
But to the one who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness.
freedom from punishment from the actions of our trespasses and empowerment to be people who are no longer enslaved to the flesh
i’m a human is no longer an excuse we can use make us feel good about continuing in sin
Romans 3:19 CSB
Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.
Yes we all fall short of the glory of God and our salvation isn't about how well we preform or based off performance
Ephesians 2:1–10 CSB
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
John 8:1-10 “But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he went to the temple again, and all the people were coming to him. He sat down and began to teach them. Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center. “Teacher,” they said to him, “this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” They asked this to trap him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse him. Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with his finger. When they persisted in questioning him, he stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.” Then he stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only he was left, with the woman in the center. When Jesus stood up, he said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?””

Revelation of God’s Grace

Comes from the spirit of God
not by our own-self
1 corinthians 2:10-16 “Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, since the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except his spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, and yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. For who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
The Holy spirit testifies of Christ, its only through his spirit that we come to know christ.
its only through his spirit that we become born again, that are hearts are made from heart of stone to heart of flesh.
through his spirit that we receive what has been made available to us
1 Corinthians 2:1–5 CSB
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, announcing the mystery of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.

Resting in the finished work

The key to resting is realizing its God work not yours; its by his strength not ours.
When we cant make impact apart from him
We cant produce fruit, the holy-spirit produces it in us as we abide/remain in him
We are co-laborers in Christ
Galatians 3:1–14 CSB
You foolish Galatians! Who has cast a spell on you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? I only want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by the Spirit, are you now finishing by the flesh? Did you experience so much for nothing—if in fact it was for nothing? So then, does God give you the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law? Or is it by believing what you heard—just like Abraham who believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness? You know, then, that those who have faith, these are Abraham’s sons. Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and proclaimed the gospel ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you. Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith. For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed. Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith. But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.
Our hearts can be so bent on making things happen
but until we surrender the idea of being the main force behind
Galatians 2:21 (CSB)
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

Graceless

living from a place from the law and not Grace that is provided to us we separate ourselves; alienate our selves.
Galatians 5:1–6 ESV
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Not receiving grace and mercy to ourselves or others keeps us in bondage to what jesus has set us free from

God’s Grace Empowers us to

Pursue righteousness
Live Godly lives
put away all foolishness
turn from our sins
to live out what God has called us too
to grow and mature spiritually

God’s Grace does not empower us to

be double minded
abuse his grace, as a tool to be applied for freedom from the feeling guilt and shame
Grace doesn't diminish sin

Grace Produces

Righteous Holy lives are the product of Grace
theres a difference between Worldly sorrow and Godly sorrow
one is looking to get rid of the consequences of their sin without concern really for what they have done against God.
looking to feel better, relieved from guilt shame and condemnation
the other one is grieved because of his betrayal of God; despite of what God has done for him, grieved of their unfaithfulness to God, their falling short. Grievance of their leading people to mock God name because of their actions that do not line up with God.
Galatians 5:22–26 CSB
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Romans 2:24 CSB
For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.

Grace Leads

Grace Leads you back to the feet of Jesus
Hebrews 4:16 CSB
Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.
