Mary and Her worship of our Lord.
V. 12-15
V. 12-15
12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.”
14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,
15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
Jesus was not making Himself known
The people who are waiting for Jesus to come to the passover
so the made branches from Palm trees to welcome Him
Hosanna!!?? What does this mean
Hosanna!!?? What does this mean
it is translated in Hebrew as “give salvation now!”
So these people are crying out Hosanna - give salvation now.
Jesus sat on a donkey
And The Old Testament says:
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
He is just and endowed with salvation,
Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
v.16-18
v.16-18
16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.
17 So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him.
18 For this reason also the people went and met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
People wanted to go and meet with Him because the the signs.
The word is out.
people are hearing things.
Word is traveling about Him, people are believing in Him others are just talking

v.19
19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him.”
The Pharisees were upset with one another, they can bot believe that people are going to Him. The are looking at Jesus more as a political challenge.
This is Victory
This is Victory
..........but in not what you think.
when a political person came into Jerusalem . Everything was planned to detail.
When they entered, they entered with trumpets playing
with soldiers in full military formation. and the enter with a big white stallion.
Jesus was not a politician. But King.
Jesus shows the type of King He is.
he did have the sound of trumpets, but praise
He did ride on a magnificent horse, but a donkey. (showing He is a King of humility
Jesus came as Messiah, not the destroy other nations but to bring peace to the nations
One Nation
One Nation
This is a victory
This is a victory
because Jesus is coming to bring peace with God and all nations.
Not just Israel.
God’s plan has always been for all the nations
God promised Abraham that all the people on earth will be blessed through him (Gen 12:3)
Jesus is the light to the nations
6 “I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness,
I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You,
And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the nations,
v.20-21
v.20-21
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast;
21 these then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
22 Philip came and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip came and told Jesus.
Who are these Greeks?
Who are these Greeks?
This are people that are not Jews, but gentiles.
They were God-Fearing men but not converted to Judaism
These people were not Jews, but they wanted t see Jesus also.
We are getting a chance to see here that what Jesus says in John 10:16 is true.
16 “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
Why Philip? And Why Philip to Andrew.
Why Philip? And Why Philip to Andrew.
some people feel that this is because Philip spoke better greek
Some make reference that Philip and Andrew had Greek names
Truth is, we don’t know why this order happens the way it does, but we know that these greek were polite
v. 23-26
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25 “He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.
26 “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
The hour: the time of Jesus’ death is coming.
Jesus does not respond to the greek request.
Jesus mission had reached its climax.
many want to see Jesus.
(24) As a seed dies in the ground for a rich harvest,
Jesus must die in order to bring a harvest of salvation.
25-26)
Jesus says to His followers that if you love your life, (which is sin) will lose it, but if you hate your life (which is sin) you will have life eternal.
If you what to have life eternal, you must follow Jesus. You will be honored by God in following Jesus.
