we have a community obligation to hear and obey the word – This is why it must be in person and under authority of leaders.
Sometimes when Reading our own word individually we can insulate ourselves from it b/c we can focus on what we want or need, not so easy with a sermon corporately – especially if the preacher starts meddling.
