Just to obey the law was not enough.
Let’s pray
The best-known sermon Jesus ever preached
The sermon on the mountain, is not a path to salvation, world peace or a beautiful teachings about relationships and nature.
Is about the kingdom of God
The sermon was not for the multitudes it was for the disciples, is not intended to be a social gospel.
Mat 5:1 Jesus saw the crowds.
So he went up on a mountainside and sat down.
His disciples came to him.
Mat 5:2 Then he began to teach them.
He said,
If you are wondering about the crowd
Mat 4:23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Mat 4:24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.
Mat 4:25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
This sermon was for followers of Jesus, people who are not Christians, people who does not have a relationship with Jesus will not understand this message.
They will try to change it and water it down.
God wants to give us His understanding over these topics,
Jesus is the one who came from heaven, and has the correct understanding from God, and the right doctrine, we need Jesus the Holy Spirit, to help us to understand the scriptures, and what he is saying.
If your understanding or view of the old testament is different then Jesus, repent and align your thinking with His thinking.
If we look at the old and new testaments all 66 books are about one person and 2 events, Jesus, his first and second coming,.
We don’t need a teacher
1Jn 2:27 As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you.
But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him].
Mathew 5 the beatitudes, who we are

As Christians we a have a call from God to be disciples of Jesus Christ
The standard definition of “disciple” (noun) is someone who follows to the teachings of another.
It is a follower or a learner.
It refers to someone who takes up the ways of someone else.
Applied to Jesus, a disciple is someone who learns from him to live like him — someone who, because of God’s awakening grace, conforms his or her words and ways to the words and ways of Jesus.
Currently is not a common thing for us to follow anyone.
The idea of following someone is look down, we praise and encourage leadership but we give very little or no support to follow anyone.
To be a follower is to have no brain’s, is to be unsuccessful, is to lack creativity.
What we praise today, is the rebel, the one who knows better than everyone else, the one who resist leadership, government authority and are disobedient.
Throughout the Bible we see the examples of many different disciples, man and women who committed their whole lives to someone else, just to learn what God had invested in that person, from leadership, teachings and actions.
Joshua with Moses, Ruth and Naomi, Elijah and Elisha , Jesus and the 12 disciples and the disciples and their disciples.
We have a call here at Mokuaikaua, to be disciples of Jesus Christ and to make disciples.
We need to ask our Heavenly Father to rekindle our hearts, our passion to make disciples.
For us to be able to grow in the Lord in our personal lives, we need to make disciples, help them to grow, God will be faithful in giving back to us .
Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Mat 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
