이는 우리 하나님의 긍휼로 인함이라 이로써 돋는 해가 위로부터 우리에게 임하여
MERCY: undeserved forgiveness & unearned kindness
우리는 언제 하나님의 긍휼과 자비가 필요한가?
하나님의 자비를 받아들이면 어떤 일이 일어나는가?
1. 수치를 당했을 때 ASHAMED: I NEED GOD’S MERCY WHEN I’VE MESSED UP
음행 하다 잡혀온 여인 A HUMILIATED WOMAN:
아침에 다시 성전으로 들어오시니 백성이 다 나아오는지라 앉으사 그들을 가르치시더니
서기관들과 바리새인들이 음행중에 잡힌 여자를 끌고 와서 가운데 세우고
예수께 말하되 선생이여 이 여자가 간음하다가 현장에서 잡혔나이다
모세는 율법에 이러한 여자를 돌로 치라 명하였거니와 선생은 어떻게 말하겠나이까
그들이 이렇게 말함은 고발할 조건을 얻고자 하여 예수를 시험함이러라 예수께서 몸을 굽히사 손가락으로 땅에 쓰시니
그들이 묻기를 마지 아니하는지라 이에 일어나 이르시되 너희 중에 죄 없는 자가 먼저 돌로 치라 하시고
다시 몸을 굽혀 손가락으로 땅에 쓰시니
그들이 이 말씀을 듣고 양심에 가책을 느껴 어른으로 시작하여 젊은이까지 하나씩 하나씩 나가고 오직 예수와 그 가운데 섰는 여자만 남았더라
예수께서 일어나사 여자 외에 아무도 없는 것을 보시고 이르시되 여자여 너를 고발하던 그들이 어디 있느냐 너를 정죄한 자가 없느냐
대답하되 주여 없나이다 예수께서 이르시되 나도 너를 정죄하지 아니하노니 가서 다시는 죄를 범하지 말라 하시니라]
“One day Jesus was teaching a crowd outside the Temple, and some Pharisees brought a woman who was caught in adultery. They put her on display in front of the crowd, then said to Jesus. ‘This woman has been caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. So what do YOU say?’ They were trying to trap Jesus into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and started writing in the dirt with his finger. They kept badgering Jesus, demanding an answer. Finally, Jesus stood up and said, ‘Here’s my answer: If any one of you has never sinned, then you may throw the first stone.’ Then he stooped down again and continued writing in the dirt! When the accusers heard this, they began to slip away, one by one, beginning with the oldest, until it was just Jesus and the woman. At that point, Jesus stood back up and quietly said to her, ‘Where are your accusers? Is there no one left to condemn you?’ ‘No one, Lord,’ she said. Then Jesus said, ‘Neither do I condemn you! Now go on, and leave your sinful ways.’ ”

• 하나님의 긍휼과 자비는 나를 용서하시고 모든 죄책감으로 부터 자유케 하신다.

주 여호와의 영이 내게 내리셨으니 이는 여호와께서 내게 기름을 부으사 가난한 자에게 아름다운 소식을 전하게 하려 하심이라 나를 보내사 마음이 상한 자를 고치며 포로된 자에게 자유를, 갇힌 자에게 놓임을 선포하며

사람이 내 말을 듣고 지키지 아니할지라도 내가 그를 심판하지 아니하노라 내가 온 것은 세상을 심판하려 함이 아니요 세상을 구원하려 함이로라
“O Lord, you are so good and kind, so ready to forgive, so full of mercy for all who ask your aid.” (LB)
주는 선하사 사죄하기를 즐거워하시며 주께 부르짖는 자에게 인자함이 후하심이니이다
“Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin. So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will receive mercy and find the grace to help us in our time of need.” (CEV)
우리에게 있는 대제사장은 우리의 연약함을 동정하지 못하실 이가 아니요 모든 일에 우리와 똑같이 시험을 받으신 이로되 죄는 없으시니라
그러므로 우리는 긍휼하심을 받고 때를 따라 돕는 은혜를 얻기 위하여 은혜의 보좌 앞에 담대히 나아갈 것이니라
2. 분노 ANGRY: I NEED GOD’S MERCY WHEN I’M MISSING WHAT I NEED
낙담한 병자 A DISAPPOINTED MAN:
예루살렘에 있는 양문 곁에 히브리 말로 베데스다라 하는 못이 있는데 거기 행각 다섯이 있고
그 안에 많은 병자, 맹인, 다리 저는 사람, 혈기 마른 사람들이 누워 [물의 움직임을 기다리니
이는 천사가 가끔 못에 내려와 물을 움직이게 하는데 움직인 후에 먼저 들어가는 자는 어떤 병에 걸렸든지 낫게 됨이러라]
거기 서른여덟 해 된 병자가 있더라
예수께서 그 누운 것을 보시고 병이 벌써 오래된 줄 아시고 이르시되 네가 낫고자 하느냐
병자가 대답하되 주여 물이 움직일 때에 나를 못에 넣어 주는 사람이 없어 내가 가는 동안에 다른 사람이 먼저 내려가나이다
예수께서 이르시되 일어나 네 자리를 들고 걸어가라 하시니
그 사람이 곧 나아서 자리를 들고 걸어가니라 이 날은 안식일이니
“In Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, which was surrounded by five covered porches. A large crowd of all sorts of disabled people would lie by the pool, waiting for a miracle. There was a legend that every once in a while an angel would stir up the water, and whoever was the first to get in the water while it was still moving would get what they needed and be made whole. One poor man had been waiting by the pool for 38 years. When Jesus saw this man and heard that he’d been lying there for such a long time, he asked the man ‘Do you want to get well?’ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘I have no one to help me get into the pool when the water is stirred! While I’m trying to get there, somebody else always gets ahead of me!’ Then Jesus simply said, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and start walking!’ When the man trusted Jesus, he was immediately able to walk again.”
• GOD’S MERCY MAKES THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE
"What is impossible with men is possible with God." (NIV)
이르시되 무릇 사람이 할 수 없는 것을 하나님은 하실 수 있느니라
“As you get to know Jesus better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life.” (LB)
그의 신기한 능력으로 생명과 경건에 속한 모든 것을 우리에게 주셨으니 이는 자기의 영광과 덕으로써 우리를 부르신 이를 앎으로 말미암음이라
3. AFRAID: I’ll NEED GOD’S MERCY WHEN I’M FACING DEATH
죽어가는 사람 A DYING MAN:
달린 행악자 중 하나는 비방하여 이르되 네가 그리스도가 아니냐 너와 우리를 구원하라 하되
하나는 그 사람을 꾸짖어 이르되 네가 동일한 정죄를 받고서도 하나님을 두려워하지 아니하느냐
우리는 우리가 행한 일에 상당한 보응을 받는 것이니 이에 당연하거니와 이 사람이 행한 것은 옳지 않은 것이 없느니라 하고
이르되 예수여 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 기억하소서 하니
예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라 하시니라
“One of the criminals being executed on a cross beside Jesus ridiculed him saying, ‘If you’re supposed to be the Messiah, why don’t you save yourself . . . and us too!’ But the second criminal rebuked him, ‘Man, don’t you even fear God when you’re dying? We deserve to die for our evil deeds, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong!’ Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.’ And Jesus replied, ‘I guarantee you that today you will be with me in paradise.’ ”
• GOD’S MERCY SAVES ME FOR ETERNITY
(Jesus) "I am the resurrection and the life! Whoever believes in me, even though he dies, will live again!”
예수께서 이르시되 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고
“Anyone who asks for mercy from the Lord shall have it and shall be saved.” (LB)

누구든지 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 받으리라 하였느니라
“The Lord God is waiting to show you how kind he is and to have mercy on you. The Lord always does what’s right and he blesses those who trust him!” (CEV)
그러나 여호와께서 기다리시나니 이는 너희에게 은혜를 베풀려 하심이요 일어나시리니 이는 너희를 긍휼히 여기려 하심이라 대저 여호와는 정의의 하나님이심이라 그를 기다리는 자마다 복이 있도다

또한 너희 지체를 불의의 무기로 죄에게 내주지 말고 오직 너희 자신을 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아난 자 같이 하나님께 드리며 너희 지체를 의의 무기로 하나님께 드리라
PAUL’S SECRETS OF STAYING USABLE
1. NEVER FORGET IT’S ALL BECAUSE OF GOD’S MERCY!
“God in his mercy has given us this ministry and work to do. That’s why we do not become discouraged and never give up!”

그러므로 우리가 이 직분을 받아 긍휼하심을 입은 대로 낙심하지 아니하고

내가 이전에 유대교에 있을 때에 행한 일을 너희가 들었거니와 하나님의 교회를 심히 박해하여 멸하고
그러나 내 어머니의 태로부터 나를 택정하시고 그의 은혜로 나를 부르신 이가
“It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.” (LB)

우리는 그가 만드신 바라 그리스도 예수 안에서 선한 일을 위하여 지으심을 받은 자니 이 일은 하나님이 전에 예비하사 우리로 그 가운데서 행하게 하려 하심이니라
2. BE REAL
“We don’t try to trick anyone, and we don’t twist the word of God. Instead we teach the truth plainly, showing everyone who we REALLY are. Then they can know in their hearts what kind of people we are in God’s sight.” (NLT/NCV)
이에 숨은 부끄러움의 일을 버리고 속임으로 행하지 아니하며 하나님의 말씀을 혼잡하게 하지 아니하고 오직 진리를 나타냄으로 하나님 앞에서 각 사람의 양심에 대하여 스스로 추천하노라
“The Spirit we received does not make us slaves again to fear; it makes us children of God!” (NCV)
너희는 다시 무서워하는 종의 영을 받지 아니하고 양자의 영을 받았으므로 우리가 아빠 아버지라고 부르짖느니라
3. REMEMBER IT’S NOT ABOUT ME!
“Our message is not about ourselves. It is about Jesus Christ as the Lord. We are merely your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (GW)
우리는 우리를 전파하는 것이 아니라 오직 그리스도 예수의 주 되신 것과 또 예수를 위하여 우리가 너희의 종 된 것을 전파함이라
“We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us.” (CEV)
우리가 이 보배를 질그릇에 가졌으니 이는 심히 큰 능력은 하나님께 있고 우리에게 있지 아니함을 알게 하려 함이라
4. USE MY PAIN TO HELP OTHERS
“We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again.”

우리가 사방으로 우겨쌈을 당하여도 싸이지 아니하며 답답한 일을 당하여도 낙심하지 아니하며
박해를 받아도 버린 바 되지 아니하며 거꾸러뜨림을 당하여도 망하지 아니하고
“All of these sufferings of ours are for your benefit. And the more of you who are won to Christ, the more there are to thank Him for his great mercy, and the more God gets glory!”

이는 모든 것이 너희를 위함이니 많은 사람의 감사로 말미암아 은혜가 더하여 넘쳐서 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라

5. STAY FOCUSED ON ETERNITY
“These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing.” (CEV)

WHAT CAUSES OUR PERSONAL FAILURES?
3 Things Peter Did Wrong
1. WE OVERESTIMATE OUR STRENGTH
‘“Jesus said ‘Tonight every one of you will desert me. For the Scripture says that when the shepherd is killed, the sheep will be scattered. BUT after I’ve been raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.’ Then Peter boasted, ‘But Lord, even if everyone else fails you, I will NEVER deny you!’ Jesus replied, ‘Peter, the truth is that before this night is over, and before the rooster crows at dawn, you will deny knowing me three times.’ Peter insisted, ‘But Lord, I would NEVER do that! Even if I have to die with you I’ll never deny knowing you!’ And all the other disciples vowed the same thing.”
그 때에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 오늘 밤에 너희가 다 나를 버리리라 기록된 바 내가 목자를 치리니 양의 떼가 흩어지리라 하였느니라
그러나 내가 살아난 후에 너희보다 먼저 갈릴리로 가리라
베드로가 대답하여 이르되 모두 주를 버릴지라도 나는 결코 버리지 않겠나이다
예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 밤 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라
베드로가 이르되 내가 주와 함께 죽을지언정 주를 부인하지 않겠나이다 하고 모든 제자도 그와 같이 말하니라
“If you think, ‘I am strong! I can handle this. I’d never fall for that temptation,’ then be careful! For you could easily fall too!”
그런즉 선 줄로 생각하는 자는 넘어질까 조심하라
2. WE FEAR THE DISAPPROVAL OF OTHERS
“Peter followed Jesus at a distance to the courtyard of the high priest's palace. He went in and sat down with the guards to see what was going to happen to Jesus . . . As he was sitting in the courtyard, a servant girl came up to him and said, ‘You were with Jesus of Galilee, weren’t you?’ But standing there in front of everyone Peter denied it. ‘I don't even know what you're talking about!’ he said.” ,
베드로가 멀찍이 예수를 따라 대제사장의 집 뜰에까지 가서 그 결말을 보려고 안에 들어가 하인들과 함께 앉아 있더라
베드로가 바깥 뜰에 앉았더니 한 여종이 나아와 이르되 너도 갈릴리 사람 예수와 함께 있었도다 하거늘
베드로가 모든 사람 앞에서 부인하여 이르되 나는 네가 무슨 말을 하는지 알지 못하겠노라 하며
“It is a dangerous trap to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the Lord, you’ll be safe.”
사람을 두려워하면 올무에 걸리게 되거니와 여호와를 의지하는 자는 안전하리라
3. WE SPEAK WITHOUT THINKING
“Then Peter went out to the entrance of the courtyard and there another woman saw him and said to those standing there, ‘This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.’ Again Peter denied it, and this time he swore an oath and said ‘I don't even know that man!’ But after a while, the men who had been standing there came over to Peter and said ‘We KNOW that you are one of them because your Galilean accent gives you away.’ Peter lost his temper and started cursing and swearing. He shouted ‘I don’t know the man!’ Immediately he heard a rooster crow.”
앞문까지 나아가니 다른 여종이 그를 보고 거기 있는 사람들에게 말하되 이 사람은 나사렛 예수와 함께 있었도다 하매
베드로가 맹세하고 또 부인하여 이르되 나는 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하더라
조금 후에 곁에 섰던 사람들이 나아와 베드로에게 이르되 너도 진실로 그 도당이라 네 말소리가 너를 표명한다 하거늘
그가 저주하며 맹세하여 이르되 나는 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하니 곧 닭이 울더라
“The tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do! Just as a tiny spark can burn up a great forest, the tongue is a flame of fire. That part of your body is full of wickedness and can poison everything else in your life. It is set on fire by hell itself and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster.”
이와 같이 혀도 작은 지체로되 큰 것을 자랑하도다 보라 얼마나 작은 불이 얼마나 많은 나무를 태우는가
혀는 곧 불이요 불의의 세계라 혀는 우리 지체 중에서 온 몸을 더럽히고 삶의 수레바퀴를 불사르나니 그 사르는 것이 지옥 불에서 나느니라
WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I FAIL?
3 Things Peter Did Right
1. GRIEVE!
“When Peter heard the rooster crow, he remembered that Jesus had said, ‘Before the rooster crows, you’ll deny me three times.’ Then Peter went outside and wept bitterly.”
이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라
“The sacrifice God wants is a broken and contrite spirit, God will not reject a humble and repentant heart.”
하나님께서 구하시는 제사는 상한 심령이라 하나님이여 상하고 통회하는 마음을 주께서 멸시하지 아니하시리이다
2. LET MY SMALL GROUP SUPPORT ME
(Easter morning) “Mary Magdalene went and found the disciples together, grieving and weeping.”
마리아가 가서 예수와 함께 하던 사람들이 슬퍼하며 울고 있는 중에 이 일을 알리매
(Easter night) “That evening the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus appeared in the middle of the group, and said ‘Peace be with you!’ . . . The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!”

이 날 곧 안식 후 첫날 저녁 때에 제자들이 유대인들을 두려워하여 모인 곳의 문들을 닫았더니 예수께서 오사 가운데 서서 이르시되 너희에게 평강이 있을지어다
이 말씀을 하시고 손과 옆구리를 보이시니 제자들이 주를 보고 기뻐하더라

“A week later the disciples were together again meeting in a home.”
여드레를 지나서 제자들이 다시 집 안에 있을 때에 도마도 함께 있고 문들이 닫혔는데 예수께서 오사 가운데 서서 이르시되 너희에게 평강이 있을지어다 하시고
3. CAST MYSELF ON GOD’S MERCY
“Because of his great mercy God has given us a new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope . . .”
우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지 하나님을 찬송하리로다 그의 많으신 긍휼대로 예수 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 부활하게 하심으로 말미암아 우리를 거듭나게 하사 산 소망이 있게 하시며
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 이는 그가 너희를 돌보심이라
WHAT DOES JESUS DO WITH OUR FAILURES?
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned back to me again, strengthen and build up your brothers.”
시몬아, 시몬아, 보라 사탄이 너희를 밀 까부르듯 하려고 요구하였으나
그러나 내가 너를 위하여 네 믿음이 떨어지지 않기를 기도하였노니 너는 돌이킨 후에 네 형제를 굳게 하라
1. HE ISN’T SHOCKED
“God certainly knows what we are made of. He bears in mind that we are dust.” (GW)
이는 그가 우리의 체질을 아시며 우리가 단지 먼지뿐임을 기억하심이로다

2. HE PRAYS FOR US!
“Jesus is able to save us completely because (in heaven) he lives to intercede on our behalf. He is always talking to the Father, asking him to help us.”
그러므로 자기를 힘입어 하나님께 나아가는 자들을 온전히 구원하실 수 있으니 이는 그가 항상 살아 계셔서 그들을 위하여 간구하심이라
3. HE BELIEVES IN US!
“. . . so WHEN you have repented and turned back to me again . . .”
그러나 내가 너를 위하여 네 믿음이 떨어지지 않기를 기도하였노니 너는 돌이킨 후에 네 형제를 굳게 하라
“For even though a righteous man falls seven times, he will rise again!”
대저 의인은 일곱 번 넘어질지라도 다시 일어나려니와 악인은 재앙으로 말미암아 엎드러지느니라
The Angel said, “I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. But he is not here—he’s risen from the dead . . . Now go tell his disciples, AND tell Peter, that he’s going ahead of you to Galilee and he’ll see you there, just as he promised!”

4. HE SHOWS US MERCY WHEN WE’RE DOWN
(Two weeks later) “Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. Seven of the disciples were there and Simon Peter said, ‘I'm going fishing.’ ‘We'll come, too’ they all said. So they went out in the boat, but even though they fished all night, they caught nothing. At dawn the disciples saw a man standing on the shore but they couldn't see it was Jesus. He called out, ‘Friends, have you caught any fish?’ ‘Not a thing!’ they replied.’ Then Jesus said, ‘Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get plenty of fish!’ So they did what Jesus said to do, and they instantly caught so many fish, they couldn't even draw in the net because it was so full of fish! Then John said to Peter, ‘IT’S THE LORD!’
“When Peter realized that he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and swam ashore, leaving the others in the boat to pull the loaded net to the shore, for they were only out about three hundred feet.
“When they got to shore they saw that Jesus was cooking fish and bread over a charcoal fire. Jesus said, ‘Bring some of the fish you just caught.’ So Peter went back aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was filled with a 153 large fish, and yet the net had not torn. ‘Now come and have some breakfast!’ Jesus said. Now they were sure it really was the Lord! Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish. This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead.”
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 아니함이니이다

5. HE USES OUR FAILURES TO BUILD HIS CHURCH!
“When you have turned back to me, strengthen and build up your brothers.”
그러나 내가 너를 위하여 네 믿음이 떨어지지 않기를 기도하였노니 너는 돌이킨 후에 네 형제를 굳게 하라
“After breakfast Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you,’ Peter replied. ‘Then feed my lambs,’ Jesus said. Then Jesus repeated the question: ‘Peter, do you love me?’ Peter said, ‘Yes, Lord! You KNOW I love you!’ ‘Then take care of my sheep,’ Jesus said. Then Jesus asked the same question one more time: ‘Peter, do you love me?’ Now Peter was grieved that Jesus asked the question a third time, so he said, ‘Lord, you know everything! You know I love you!’ And Jesus replied ‘Then feed my sheep!’”

우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 자를 사하여 준 것 같이 우리 죄를 사하여 주시옵고
MERCY: undeserved forgiveness & unearned kindness
1. MERCY MEANS God forgives me.
God wants to forgive me.
“You are a God of forgiveness, always ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and full of love and mercy.” (TLB)
거역하며 주께서 그들 가운데에서 행하신 기사를 기억하지 아니하고 목을 굳게 하며 패역하여 스스로 한 우두머리를 세우고 종 되었던 땅으로 돌아가고자 하였나이다 그러나 주께서는 용서하시는 하나님이시라 은혜로우시며 긍휼히 여기시며 더디 노하시며 인자가 풍부하시므로 그들을 버리지 아니하셨나이다
“You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” (NIV)
주와 같은 신이 어디 있으리이까 주께서는 죄악과 그 기업에 남은 자의 허물을 사유하시며 인애를 기뻐하시므로 진노를 오래 품지 아니하시나이다
God freely forgives me.
“All of us have sinned . . . yet now God declares us ‘not guilty’ of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who freely takes away our sins.” (TLB)
모든 사람이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하더니
그리스도 예수 안에 있는 속량으로 말미암아 하나님의 은혜로 값 없이 의롭다 하심을 얻은 자 되었느니라
God immediately forgives me.
“God is merciful and quick to forgive.” (TEV)
악인은 그의 길을, 불의한 자는 그의 생각을 버리고 여호와께로 돌아오라 그리하면 그가 긍휼히 여기시리라 우리 하나님께로 돌아오라 그가 너그럽게 용서하시리라
God completely forgives me.
“. . . God forgave all our sins. He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross.” (NLT)
또 범죄와 육체의 무할례로 죽었던 너희를 하나님이 그와 함께 살리시고 우리의 모든 죄를 사하시고
우리를 거스르고 불리하게 하는 법조문으로 쓴 증서를 지우시고 제하여 버리사 십자가에 못 박으시고
“You will have mercy on us again; you will conquer our sins. You will throw away all our sins into the deepest part of the sea.” (NCV)
다시 우리를 불쌍히 여기셔서 우리의 죄악을 발로 밟으시고 우리의 모든 죄를 깊은 바다에 던지시리이다

Forgiveness is not trusting the person again.
Forgiveness IS releasing it to God.

우리를 구원하시되 우리가 행한 바 의로운 행위로 말미암지 아니하고 오직 그의 긍휼하심을 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 하셨나니
Jesus: “I have come to SEEK and to SAVE those who are LOST.”
인자가 온 것은 잃어버린 자를 찾아 구원하려 함이니라

‘LOSTNESS’ implies value.
WHAT DO I LOSE WHEN I’M SPIRITUALLY “LOST”?
Like a lost sheep . . .
1. I lose MY DIRECTION.
“All of us have strayed away just like lost sheep. We’ve all left God’s path to follow our own ways.”
우리는 다 양 같아서 그릇 행하여 각기 제 길로 갔거늘 여호와께서는 우리 모두의 죄악을 그에게 담당시키셨도다
to follow our own ways.”
2. I lose God’s protection.
“My people are wandering like lost sheep, without a shepherd to protect and guide them.”
드라빔들은 허탄한 것을 말하며 복술자는 진실하지 않은 것을 보고 거짓 꿈을 말한즉 그 위로가 헛되므로 백성들이 양 같이 유리하며 목자가 없으므로 곤고를 당하나니

3. I lose MY POTENTIAL.
“No one has ever seen or heard or even imagined the wonderful things God has prepared and arranged for those who love him.”

기록된 바 하나님이 자기를 사랑하는 자들을 위하여 예비하신 모든 것은 눈으로 보지 못하고 귀로 듣지 못하고 사람의 마음으로 생각하지도 못하였다 함과 같으니라
Like a lost son . . .
4. I lose my happiness.
“The younger son wasted all he’d been given and eventually he became miserable and lonely.”

다 없앤 후 그 나라에 크게 흉년이 들어 그가 비로소 궁핍한지라
Our wandering nature separates us from God

5. I lose my home in heaven.
“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, if he loses his soul?”
사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 자기를 잃든지 빼앗기든지 하면 무엇이 유익하리요
BUT I DON’T LOSE my value!
“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.”
하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라
HOW DOES GOD’S MERCY “SAVE” ME?
1. Salvation rescues me from myself.
“Jesus is the only one who can bring us to God. He became a human and gave himself to rescue all of us.”
하나님은 한 분이시요 또 하나님과 사람 사이에 중보자도 한 분이시니 곧 사람이신 그리스도 예수라
“Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory."
환난 날에 나를 부르라 내가 너를 건지리니 네가 나를 영화롭게 하리로다
2. It recovers my potential.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and worn out from carrying too much. Learn to trust and rest in me and you’ll recover your life.”
수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라
“I will give you back what you lost in the years when the locusts ate all your crops.”
내가 전에 너희에게 보낸 큰 군대 곧 메뚜기와 느치와 황충과 팥중이가 먹은 햇수대로 너희에게 갚아 주리니
3. SALVATION RECONNECTS ME TO GOD.
“Anyone who connects to Christ becomes a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything becomes new. God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between himself and us.” (CEV)
그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다
모든 것이 하나님께로서 났으며 그가 그리스도로 말미암아 우리를 자기와 화목하게 하시고 또 우리에게 화목하게 하는 직분을 주셨으니
HOW DO I CONNECT WITH GOD’S MERCY?
1. Get fed up with my life.
“. . . he wasted it all . . . he had nothing left . . . he got desperate and hungry . . . then he finally came to his senses . . .”
그 후 며칠이 안 되어 둘째 아들이 재물을 다 모아 가지고 먼 나라에 가 거기서 허랑방탕하여 그 재산을 낭비하더니
다 없앤 후 그 나라에 크게 흉년이 들어 그가 비로소 궁핍한지라
가서 그 나라 백성 중 한 사람에게 붙여 사니 그가 그를 들로 보내어 돼지를 치게 하였는데
그가 돼지 먹는 쥐엄 열매로 배를 채우고자 하되 주는 자가 없는지라
이에 스스로 돌이켜 이르되 내 아버지에게는 양식이 풍족한 품꾼이 얼마나 많은가 나는 여기서 주려 죽는구나
GOD: “You’ll find me when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else.” (Mes)
너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라
2. Own up to my sin.
“When he came to his senses, he said . . . ‘I have sinned against God and you . . .’”
이에 스스로 돌이켜 이르되 내 아버지에게는 양식이 풍족한 품꾼이 얼마나 많은가 나는 여기서 주려 죽는구나
내가 일어나 아버지께 가서 이르기를 아버지 내가 하늘과 아버지께 죄를 지었사오니
3. Offer up MYSELF.
The son drifted away saying “GIVE ME MY share . . .”
그 둘째가 아버지에게 말하되 아버지여 재산 중에서 내게 돌아올 분깃을 내게 주소서 하는지라 아버지가 그 살림을 각각 나눠 주었더니
He returned to the Father saying “MAKE ME a servant.”
지금부터는 아버지의 아들이라 일컬음을 감당하지 못하겠나이다 나를 품꾼의 하나로 보소서 하리라 하고
아버지의 반응은?
“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran out to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”
이에 일어나서 아버지께로 돌아가니라 아직도 거리가 먼데 아버지가 그를 보고 측은히 여겨 달려가 목을 안고 입을 맞추니

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (NIV)
긍휼히 여기는 자는 복이 있나니 그들이 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것임이요
Mercy is love in action.
Compassion-ate: is to enter into someone else’s pain.
“A man with leprosy came to Jesus and begged him on his knees, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean.’
“Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
“Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: ‘See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.’ Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.” (NIV)
한 나병환자가 예수께 와서 꿇어 엎드려 간구하여 이르되 원하시면 저를 깨끗하게 하실 수 있나이다
예수께서 불쌍히 여기사 손을 내밀어 그에게 대시며 이르시되 내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하시니
곧 나병이 그 사람에게서 떠나가고 깨끗하여진지라
곧 보내시며 엄히 경고하사
이르시되 삼가 아무에게 아무 말도 하지 말고 가서 네 몸을 제사장에게 보이고 네가 깨끗하게 되었으니 모세가 명한 것을 드려 그들에게 입증하라 하셨더라

“[The priest] is to slaughter the lamb in the holy place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered . . . The priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.” (NIV)
그 어린 숫양은 거룩한 장소 곧 속죄제와 번제물 잡는 곳에서 잡을 것이며 속건제물은 속죄제물과 마찬가지로 제사장에게 돌릴지니 이는 지극히 거룩한 것이니라
제사장은 그 속건제물의 피를 취하여 정결함을 받을 자의 오른쪽 귓부리와 오른쪽 엄지 손가락과 오른쪽 엄지 발가락에 바를 것이요
“Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot. “Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: ‘Here am I.’
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” (NIV)

내가 기뻐하는 금식은 흉악의 결박을 풀어 주며 멍에의 줄을 끌러 주며 압제 당하는 자를 자유하게 하며 모든 멍에를 꺾는 것이 아니겠느냐
또 주린 자에게 네 양식을 나누어 주며 유리하는 빈민을 집에 들이며 헐벗은 자를 보면 입히며 또 네 골육을 피하여 스스로 숨지 아니하는 것이 아니겠느냐
그리하면 네 빛이 새벽 같이 비칠 것이며 네 치유가 급속할 것이며 네 공의가 네 앞에 행하고 여호와의 영광이 네 뒤에 호위하리니
네가 부를 때에는 나 여호와가 응답하겠고 네가 부르짖을 때에는 내가 여기 있다 하리라 ◎만일 네가 너희 중에서 멍에와 손가락질과 허망한 말을 제하여 버리고
주린 자에게 네 심정이 동하며 괴로워하는 자의 심정을 만족하게 하면 네 빛이 흑암 중에서 떠올라 네 어둠이 낮과 같이 될 것이며
여호와가 너를 항상 인도하여 메마른 곳에서도 네 영혼을 만족하게 하며 네 뼈를 견고하게 하리니 너는 물 댄 동산 같겠고 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘 같을 것이라
네게서 날 자들이 오래 황폐된 곳들을 다시 세울 것이며 너는 역대의 파괴된 기초를 쌓으리니 너를 일컬어 무너진 데를 보수하는 자라 할 것이며 길을 수축하여 거할 곳이 되게 하는 자라 하리라

무례히 행하지 아니하며 자기의 유익을 구하지 아니하며 성내지 아니하며 악한 것을 생각하지 아니하며
“Love forgets mistakes; nagging about them separates even close friends.”
허물을 덮어 주는 자는 사랑을 구하는 자요 그것을 거듭 말하는 자는 친한 벗을 이간하는 자니라
“It is to your glory to overlook an offense.”
노하기를 더디 하는 것이 사람의 슬기요 허물을 용서하는 것이 자기의 영광이니라

2. BY BEING KIND WHEN THEY DONT DESERVE IT
BUT NEED IT.

사랑은 오래 참고 사랑은 온유하며 시기하지 아니하며 사랑은 자랑하지 아니하며 교만하지 아니하며
모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿으며 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견디느니라

네 손이 선을 베풀 힘이 있거든 마땅히 받을 자에게 베풀기를 아끼지 말며

3. BY LETTING GO OF PAST HURTS.

모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿으며 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견디느니라

내가 주의 지성소를 향하여 나의 손을 들고 주께 부르짖을 때에 나의 간구하는 소리를 들으소서

오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라

너희 아버지의 자비로우심 같이 너희도 자비로운 자가 되라
PRINCIPLES OF MERCY
우리는 어떻게 더욱 자비로울 수 있는가?
1. START LOOKING & LISTENING FOR PEOPLE’S NEEDS
“Look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own.” (TEV)
각각 자기 일을 돌볼뿐더러 또한 각각 다른 사람들의 일을 돌보아 나의 기쁨을 충만하게 하라
“Jesus looked at him and loved him.” (NIV)
예수께서 그를 보시고 사랑하사 이르시되 네게 아직도 한 가지 부족한 것이 있으니 가서 네게 있는 것을 다 팔아 가난한 자들에게 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 따르라 하시니
2. DON’T BE OFFENDED BY THEIR SINS
“Show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. There are still others to whom you need to show mercy, but be careful that you aren’t contaminated by their sins.” (NLT)
어떤 의심하는 자들을 긍휼히 여기라
또 어떤 자를 불에서 끌어내어 구원하라 또 어떤 자를 그 육체로 더럽힌 옷까지도 미워하되 두려움으로 긍휼히 여기라
“Most importantly, love each other deeply. Love has a way of not looking at others’ sins.” (ICB)

무엇보다도 뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라
“Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” (LB)
모든 겸손과 온유로 하고 오래 참음으로 사랑 가운데서 서로 용납하고
Principle: Don’t expect unbelievers to act like believers until they are!

예수께서 마태의 집에서 앉아 음식을 잡수실 때에 많은 세리와 죄인들이 와서 예수와 그의 제자들과 함께 앉았더니
바리새인들이 보고 그의 제자들에게 이르되 어찌하여 너희 선생은 세리와 죄인들과 함께 잡수시느냐
예수께서 들으시고 이르시되 건강한 자에게는 의사가 쓸 데 없고 병든 자에게라야 쓸 데 있느니라
너희는 가서 내가 긍휼을 원하고 제사를 원하지 아니하노라 하신 뜻이 무엇인지 배우라 나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니요 죄인을 부르러 왔노라 하시니라
3. CHOOSE MY WORDS CAREFULLY
“When you talk, you should always be kind and pleasant so you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.” (NCV)
너희 말을 항상 은혜 가운데서 소금으로 맛을 냄과 같이 하라 그리하면 각 사람에게 마땅히 대답할 것을 알리라
“The wisdom that comes from heaven is pure, peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. Wisdom is full of mercy . . .” (NLT)

오직 위로부터 난 지혜는 첫째 성결하고 다음에 화평하고 관용하고 양순하며 긍휼과 선한 열매가 가득하고 편견과 거짓이 없나니
4. VALUE SAVING PEOPLE OVER KEEPING RULES

그 때에 예수께서 안식일에 밀밭 사이로 가실새 제자들이 시장하여 이삭을 잘라 먹으니
바리새인들이 보고 예수께 말하되 보시오 당신의 제자들이 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하나이다
예수께서 이르시되 다윗이 자기와 그 함께 한 자들이 시장할 때에 한 일을 읽지 못하였느냐
그가 하나님의 전에 들어가서 제사장 외에는 자기나 그 함께 한 자들이 먹어서는 안 되는 진설병을 먹지 아니하였느냐
또 안식일에 제사장들이 성전 안에서 안식을 범하여도 죄가 없음을 너희가 율법에서 읽지 못하였느냐
내가 너희에게 이르노니 성전보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있느니라
나는 자비를 원하고 제사를 원하지 아니하노라 하신 뜻을 너희가 알았더라면 무죄한 자를 정죄하지 아니하였으리라
인자는 안식일의 주인이니라 하시니라

화 있을진저 외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여 너희가 박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조는 드리되 율법의 더 중한 바 정의와 긍휼과 믿음은 버렸도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할지니라
어디에서 긍휼과 자비의 대사가 되어야 하는가?
1. LOOK FOR PEOPLE L IN A CRISIS & LISTEN TO THEM!
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (NIV)

너희가 짐을 서로 지라 그리하여 그리스도의 법을 성취하라
2. LOOK FOR PEOPLE WITH UNMET NEEDS & HELP THEM!
“Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, ‘How can I help?’ That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but he waded right in and helped out.” (Mes)
우리 각 사람이 이웃을 기쁘게 하되 선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록 할지니라
그리스도께서도 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니하셨나니 기록된 바 주를 비방하는 자들의 비방이 내게 미쳤나이다 함과 같으니라
3. LOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE GRIEVING & COMFORT THEM!
“God comforts us in our troubles, so that we can comfort others who are in trouble with the same comfort that we ourselves received from God.”
찬송하리로다 그는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님이시요 자비의 아버지시요 모든 위로의 하나님이시며
우리의 모든 환난 중에서 우리를 위로하사 우리로 하여금 하나님께 받는 위로로써 모든 환난 중에 있는 자들을 능히 위로하게 하시는 이시로다
4. LOOK FOR PEOPLE NEEDING FRIENDS & SHOW HOSPITALITY
“Look for opportunities to be hospitable.” (NJB)
성도들의 쓸 것을 공급하며 손 대접하기를 힘쓰라
“I was alone and you welcomed me and showed me hospitality.” See
인자가 자기 영광으로 모든 천사와 함께 올 때에 자기 영광의 보좌에 앉으리니
모든 민족을 그 앞에 모으고 각각 구분하기를 목자가 양과 염소를 구분하는 것 같이 하여
양은 그 오른편에 염소는 왼편에 두리라
그 때에 임금이 그 오른편에 있는 자들에게 이르시되 내 아버지께 복 받을 자들이여 나아와 창세로부터 너희를 위하여 예비된 나라를 상속받으라
내가 주릴 때에 너희가 먹을 것을 주었고 목마를 때에 마시게 하였고 나그네 되었을 때에 영접하였고
헐벗었을 때에 옷을 입혔고 병들었을 때에 돌보았고 옥에 갇혔을 때에 와서 보았느니라
이에 의인들이 대답하여 이르되 주여 우리가 어느 때에 주께서 주리신 것을 보고 음식을 대접하였으며 목마르신 것을 보고 마시게 하였나이까
어느 때에 나그네 되신 것을 보고 영접하였으며 헐벗으신 것을 보고 옷 입혔나이까
어느 때에 병드신 것이나 옥에 갇히신 것을 보고 가서 뵈었나이까 하리니
임금이 대답하여 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 여기 내 형제 중에 지극히 작은 자 하나에게 한 것이 곧 내게 한 것이니라 하시고
또 왼편에 있는 자들에게 이르시되 저주를 받은 자들아 나를 떠나 마귀와 그 사자들을 위하여 예비된 영원한 불에 들어가라
내가 주릴 때에 너희가 먹을 것을 주지 아니하였고 목마를 때에 마시게 하지 아니하였고
나그네 되었을 때에 영접하지 아니하였고 헐벗었을 때에 옷 입히지 아니하였고 병들었을 때와 옥에 갇혔을 때에 돌보지 아니하였느니라 하시니
그들도 대답하여 이르되 주여 우리가 어느 때에 주께서 주리신 것이나 목마르신 것이나 나그네 되신 것이나 헐벗으신 것이나 병드신 것이나 옥에 갇히신 것을 보고 공양하지 아니하더이까
이에 임금이 대답하여 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이 지극히 작은 자 하나에게 하지 아니한 것이 곧 내게 하지 아니한 것이니라 하시리니
그들은 영벌에, 의인들은 영생에 들어가리라 하시니라
5. LOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED A SECOND CHANCE!
“When people sin, you should forgive and comfort them, so they won’t give up in despair.” (CEV)
그런즉 너희는 차라리 그를 용서하고 위로할 것이니 그가 너무 많은 근심에 잠길까 두려워하노라
6. LOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE RUDE & BE KIND TO THEM
“Don’t repay evil for evil. Never retaliate when people insult you or say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and he will bless you for it!” (NLT)
악을 악으로, 욕을 욕으로 갚지 말고 도리어 복을 빌라 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 이는 복을 이어받게 하려 하심이라
“God will not forget the work you’ve done and the love you’ve shown him by caring for and helping other people.”
하나님은 불의하지 아니하사 너희 행위와 그의 이름을 위하여 나타낸 사랑으로 이미 성도를 섬긴 것과 이제도 섬기고 있는 것을 잊어버리지 아니하시느니라
