18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He…

Redemption: How Jesus Frees Us
Josh Weiland • Wawasee Bible • Sermon • • 39 views • 41:33
We pick up our series in Exodus again this week. God’s people have crossed the Red Sea and are setting out for Mount Sinai. Despite all that they’ve seen God do for them, the people begin to complain and grumble when things get difficult. They grumbled against Moses, but ultimately it was against God. God hears our grumbling, yet responds with grace so that we’d choose Jesus and obey. When we choose to obey, we choose blessing. But when we choose to sin, we’re choosing to suffer. The antidote to sinful grumbling is thankfulness.

We are frequently pursuing things that we believe will make life easier or gentler. We are frequently making choices to follow after things that we think will keep us from difficulties. Jesus presents Himself as the One who rescues from death; He who brings eternal life to those who will pursue Him, those who will trust in Him. Many are trying to work God's works... Jesus seems to turn the tables on this idea reminding us that God is the One who works in us. We must receive Jesus' life or we have no eternal life. We can receive His eternal life now. We often focus on the material world whereas Jesus reminds us that it is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh, the body, the material doesn't provide profit in spiritual things. Let us lay, as we are enabled, our trust and hope in Jesus alone. He died for our sins, He has been buried, and He has already been raised from the dead. These thoughts shared by Jason Stuart Percy at Refuge TLH in Tallahassee, FL on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
The Gospel According to Moses
Pastor Glenn • Grace United Family Church • Sermon • • 30 views • 48:42
Moses told Israel how to have a thankful heart. Jesus told his disciples the same thing. Not only that, but the Lord Jesus told his followers the very source of his joy, and invited them--us if we are his disciples--to experience the fullness of joy. There is a direct tie-in to obtaining a thankful heart and experiencing joy--but it is definitely not what we normally think. The Lord says, "My ways are NOT your ways." what is the common denominator to experiencing joy and a thankful heart? Come with the Grace United crew as we explore what it takes to gain and maintain a thankful heart

And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr,…

Theme: The coming of the Holy Spirit. God told the disciples to wait ten days for the Holy Spirit to come because God was coming on the same day that he gave the Law to his people in the Old Testament, the wedding day. He wanted to declare that on this day the whole world can experience life. Every person who believes and obeys Jesus Christ will receive the Holy Spirit. He loves us, he seals us to the redemption of the Lord Jesus and he gives us bread from heaven.

Introduction We live in a consumer society - there’s no denying that. And what that means is that society is trying to entice us to buy the next best thing, to try the latest model, to lust after the latest fashion or the latest trend. It’s all over advertising. Advertising companies do their best work…

The Lord's Prayer

The next line is “give us this day our daily bread” This is not just a prayer we say before meals.
Last week we said that praying “your will be done” is like asking God, “what do you want me to do?” This week is about asking God for what we need to do His will. If I could make my own paraphrase of this line of the Lord’s prayer in the context of all that we have said so far, it would go... “Lord, help me trust you for the need of this moment and live day by day.”

Pergamos is known as the compromising church. This church had done good works, held onto their faith, and declared the name of Jesus. However, Jesus had something against them because they allowed compromise with the world to infiltrate the church. Jesus promised to come and take care of the problem Himself unless they repented. However, He also gave them an amazing promise if they overcame: true manna, a white stone, and a new name.

At some point, you may have heard of Jesus miraculously feeding the five thousand. Yet, there's more to this account: Jesus is the true Passover. Let's see how He is the better Moses and He has the better bread.
