6 Y los hijos de Judá vinieron a Josué en Gilgal; y Caleb, hijo de Jefone cenezeo, le dijo: Tú sabes lo que Jehová dijo a Moisés, varón de Dios, en Cades-barnea, tocante a mí y a ti.
7 Yo era de edad de cuarenta años cuando Moisés siervo de Jehová me envió de Cades-barnea a reconocer la tierra; y yo le traje noticias como lo sentía en mi corazón.
8 Y mis hermanos, los que habían subido conmigo, hicieron desfallecer el corazón del pueblo; pero yo cumplí siguiendo a Jehová mi Dios.
9 Entonces Moisés juró diciendo: Ciertamente la tierra que holló tu pie será para ti, y para tus hijos en herencia perpetua, por cuanto cumpliste siguiendo a Jehová mi Dios.
10 Ahora bien, Jehová me ha hecho vivir, como él dijo, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el tiempo que Jehová habló estas palabras a Moisés, cuando Israel andaba por el desierto; y ahora, he aquí, hoy soy de edad de ochenta y cinco años.
11 Todavía estoy tan fuerte como el día que Moisés me envió; cual era mi fuerza entonces, tal es ahora mi fuerza para la guerra, y para salir y para entrar.
12 Dame, pues, ahora este monte, del cual habló Jehová aquel día; porque tú oíste en aquel día que los anaceos están allí, y que hay ciudades grandes y fortificadas. Quizá Jehová estará conmigo, y los echaré, como Jehová ha dicho.
13 Josué entonces le bendijo, y dio a Caleb hijo de Jefone a Hebrón por heredad.
6 Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,
8 but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.
9 So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’
10 “Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!
11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.
12 Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”
13 Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.
Propósito: Aprender cómo mantener una actitud victoriosa en el transcurso de nuestra vida cristiana.
Purpose: To learn how to maintain a victorious attitude throughout our Christian life.

-La promesa de Dios es absoluta, porque no depende de “mis circunstancias”.

-Una vez que Dios da una promesa, no la anula; porque Sus promesas no dependen de nosotros, sino de Su propósito.
-Once God gives a promise, He does not cancel it; because His promises do not depend on us, but on His purpose.
-Dios cumple Su promesa en “quien le cree y le obedece”.
-God fulfills His promise in “those who believe and obey Him”.
-Un aspecto importante para nuestra victoria cristiana es buscar el discernimiento espiritual para poder aprobar lo mejor.
-An important aspect of our Christian victory is to seek spiritual discernment in order to approve what is best.

-Los capítulos 10 al 12 nos muestran que Israel tuvo que enfrentar la oposición de los pueblos que habitaban la tierra prometida.
-Chapters 10 to 12 show us that Israel had to face opposition from the peoples who inhabited the promised land.
-Pero Israel prevaleció gracias a la ayuda de Dios.
-But Israel prevailed thanks to God’s help.
23 Tomó, pues, Josué toda la tierra, conforme a todo lo que Jehová había dicho a Moisés; y la entregó Josué a los israelitas por herencia conforme a su distribución según sus tribus; y la tierra descansó de la guerra.
23 So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.
-Un aspecto para la victoria en la experiencia cristiana es no desconocer la oposición y saber enfrentarla.
-One aspect of victory in the christian experience is not to ignore opposition and to know how to face it.
33 Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengáis paz. En el mundo tendréis aflicción; pero confiad, yo he vencido al mundo.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

-La oposición a nuestra fe en Cristo se puede clasificar al menos de dos maneras:
-Opposition to our faith in Christ can be classified in at least two ways:
La oposición natural | Natural opposition
-Es la oposición que enfrentamos por nuestra naturaleza humana.
-This is the opposition we face because of our human nature.
—Física: nuestro cuerpo (cansancio, enfermedad, distracción de nuestros miembros)
—Physical: our body (tiredness, illness, distraction of our members)
—Emocional: temores, ansiedad, desánimo, complejos, etc.
—Emotional: fears, anxiety, discouragement, complexes, etc.
—Mental: duda, incredulidad.
—Mental: doubt, disbelief.
7 Ahora tenemos esta luz que brilla en nuestro corazón, pero nosotros mismos somos como frágiles vasijas de barro que contienen este gran tesoro. Esto deja bien claro que nuestro gran poder proviene de Dios, no de nosotros mismos.
8 Por todos lados nos presionan las dificultades, pero no nos aplastan. Estamos perplejos pero no caemos en la desesperación.
9 Somos perseguidos pero nunca abandonados por Dios. Somos derribados, pero no destruidos…
14 Sabemos que Dios, quien resucitó al Señor Jesús, también nos resucitará a nosotros con Jesús y nos presentará ante sí mismo junto con ustedes…
16 Es por esto que nunca nos damos por vencidos. Aunque nuestro cuerpo está muriéndose, nuestro espíritu va renovándose cada día.
17 Pues nuestras dificultades actuales son pequeñas y no durarán mucho tiempo. Sin embargo, ¡nos producen una gloria que durará para siempre y que es de mucho más peso que las dificultades!
18 Así que no miramos las dificultades que ahora vemos; en cambio, fijamos nuestra vista en cosas que no pueden verse. Pues las cosas que ahora podemos ver pronto se habrán ido, pero las cosas que no podemos ver permanecerán para siempre.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed…
14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself…
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

-Los obstáculos y el ataque que quiere levantar nuestro adversario.
-The obstacles and attacks that our adversary wants to raise.
11 Revístanse con toda la armadura de Dios para que puedan estar firmes contra las insidias del diablo.
12 Porque nuestra lucha no es contra sangre y carne, sino contra principados, contra potestades, contra los poderes de este mundo de tinieblas, contra las fuerzas espirituales de maldad en las regiones celestes.
13 Por tanto, tomen toda la armadura de Dios, para que puedan resistir en el día malo, y habiéndolo hecho todo, estar firmes.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
-La palabra diablo significa acusador y calumniador. La palabra satanás significa adversario.
-The word devil means accuser and slanderer. The word satan means adversary.
-Enfrentamos la oposición del calumniador y adversario, pero Jesucristo ya lo ha despojado y ha triunfado sobre el en la cruz.
-We face the opposition of the slanderer and adversary, but Jesus Christ has already stripped him and triumphed over him on the cross.

-En el capítulo 14 encontramos un relato que podemos aplicar a nuestro carácter. Se trata del ejemplo de persistencia de Caleb.

-Caleb fue uno de los dos que creyeron a Dios cuando fueron enviados por Moisés a inspeccionar la tierra.
-Caleb was one of the two who believed God when they were sent by Moses to inspect the land.
-Moisés le prometió que cuando conquistaran, le daría la tierra que había pisado.
-Moses promised him that when they conquered, he would give him the land he had stepped on.
-Pero habían pasado 45 años y no se había cumplido la promesa. Pero el dijo: “ahora soy de ochenta y cinco años, pero todavía estoy tan fuerte como el día que Moisés me envió… dame ese monte”.
-But 45 years had passed and the promise had not been fulfilled. But he said: “I am now eighty-five years old, but I am still as strong as the day Moses sent me… give me that mountain.”
-Cabe resaltar que quienes habitaban el monte que Caleb pedía eran gigantes.

Caleb: Temerario, impetuoso.

-Otro aspecto importante para la victoria cristiana es mantener una actitud de fe y persistencia en las promesas de Dios.
-Another important aspect for christian victory is to maintain an attitude of faith and persistence in the promises of God.
-Algunos se desaniman al ver que no alcanzan lo que desean, pero no se trata de alcanzar “nuestros deseos”, sino de recibir lo que se nos ha prometido.
-Some people get discouraged when they see that they do not achieve what they desire, but it is not about achieving “our desires,” but about receiving what has been promised to us.
-Si Dios lo prometió, no moriremos hasta que lo haya cumplido. ¿Cuál es tu “monte”?, ¿Quién puede decir: dame ese monte?
-If God promised it, we will not die until He has fulfilled it. What is your “mountain”? Who can say: give me that mountain?
35 Por tanto, no desechen su confianza, la cual tiene gran recompensa.
36 Porque ustedes tienen necesidad de paciencia, para que cuando hayan hecho la voluntad de Dios, obtengan la promesa.
37 Porque dentro de muy poco tiempo, El que ha de venir vendrá y no tardará.
38 Mas Mi justo vivira por la fe; Y si retrocede, Mi alma no se complacerá en él.
39 Pero nosotros no somos de los que retroceden para perdición, sino de los que tienen fe para la preservación del alma.
35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”
38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
