DESTROYING THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL

1 John 3:8 “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

I.            THE APPEARANCE OF THE SON OF GOD: JESUS CHRIST

1.       He came with a purpose

A.      To save the Sinner

(1)    Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” “10Porque el Hijo del Hombre vino a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido.”

B.      To Set the Captives free

(1)    John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” “36Así que, si el Hijo os libertare, seréis verdaderamente libres.”

C.      To Pass you that Authority

(1)    Luke 10:19 “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you” “19He aquí os doy potestad de hollar serpientes y escorpiones, y sobre toda fuerza del enemigo, y nada os dañará.”

II.            HOW DID HE DESTROYED THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL

1.       In leaving His supreme being

A.      He became man

(1)    Phil. 2:6,7 “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” “6el cual, siendo en forma de Dios, no estimó el ser igual a Dios como cosa a que aferrarse, 7sino que se despojó a sí mismo, tomando forma de siervo, hecho semejante a los hombres;”

2.       In humbling Himself

A.      He was willing to weaken himself

(1)    Phil. 2:8 “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!” “8y estando en la condición de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.”

3.       In dying at the Cross

A.      He was willing to die for us

(1)    2 Cor 5:15“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” “15y por todos murió, para que los que viven, ya no vivan para sí, sino para aquel que murió y resucitó por ellos.”

4.       In Resurrecting from the dead

A.      He was willing to go to sheol and rise again

(1)    Col. 2:15 “15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”  “15y despojando a los principados y a las potestades, los exhibió públicamente, triunfando sobre ellos en la cruz.”

VIII.            HOW CAN WE DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL

1.       Stand in our Position

A.      You are a Child of God

(1)    John 1:12 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” “12Mas a todos los que le recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios;”

2.       Hold on to the Promises

A.      He has given us power

(1)    Eph. 6:10 “10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” “10Por lo demás, hermanos míos, fortaleceos en el Señor, y en el poder de su fuerza.”

3.       Use Your Weapons wisely –      2 Cor. 10:4 “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” ““4porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas,”

A.      The Name of Jesus

(1)    Acts 4:30 “Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” “30mientras extiendes tu mano para que se hagan sanidades y señales y prodigios mediante el nombre de tu santo Hijo Jesús.”

B.      The  Blood of Jesus

(1)    Rev. 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” “11Y ellos le han vencido por medio de la sangre del Cordero y de la palabra del testimonio de ellos, y menospreciaron sus vidas hasta la muerte.”

C.      The power of your Testimony
